Hi guys! Any NTers running/training for the LA marathon? It's gonna be my first full marathon and my longest run.. Any tips and training advice you guys have would be great.
 
Don't go out too fast. Conserve your energy.

Anyone use any sort of preworkout powder before their runs? I'm considering using some for training for the first time.
 
^^^You asked that question last page. A few of us responded. It’s up to the person.

I just took some and headed to the gym. But that’s to do weight lifting not a constant physical activity with elevated heart rate.
 
Been running 5 miles a day since new year's, excluding weekends.

I've lost 12 pounds with Dieting, and growing muscle by lifting.

But now my right hip is starting to hurt, do you guys normally stretch before or after?

I usually stretch 2-3 minutes before.
 
i don't usually stretch unless it's a long run but sometimes i warm up by walking for a quarter mile to half before going on a full speed run

in your case, do warm ups instead of stretches? do some hip circles and leg swings to loosens up your hips/joints and after a run give foam rollers a try
 
I really stretch after, light stretch before sometimes if my legs are feeling tight. You running 5 miles/day 5 days/wk in a row? You might want to take some off days if so.
 
is 90ish a decent price for the nike swift running pants? or have they sold for lower?

Yea I'm doing 5 days a week. I'll usually take like Wednesday and Sunday off. I def will do more Hip and leg swings.

I feel terrible when I take off days, going to the gym is a Double Edged sword, definitely don't want to over do it and get hurt.
 
on you days off, you can still do activities, try yoga or playing sports

that's usually what I do because when I don't workout or run for a day, my body almost feels itchy like it's craving it so i fill out the time even if it's an hour walk in the park

definitely check your form when lifting too, i f'd up my back a few years back because i was a bit reckless (being young does that)
 
they gave me early registration last week for it but the date might not work for me so I am still thinking about it

 
If they included a Nike Race tee, I'd definitely run it.

Speaking of KH, anyone see the RUN WITH HART tees instore anywhere? I'm really digging the design and (overall) message.

I think that's on sale at NDC or maybe it's the hat? I just remember that design on NDC somewhere being on sale.

As for a race day tee, hmmm, they might but then again it is Nike so they'd probably have you start and finish at a Nike Store so you can buy one :lol
 
The hat is on sale. I got three of them at the outlet.

You guessed right! In the FAQs, it states that the Race tee will be available for PURCHASE after the race. :smh:
 
I signed up for that GO LA 10K when they sent out early access/registration. Maybe they'll have all the athletes/stars from the Choose Go ad run with us or maybe they'll give access to some exclusive product/event. :lol:

When Nike used to do running events in SF(Bay Area) like Nike Womens Marathon (full/half), run club, and mini run events(Run With Hart/ghirardelli chocolate Run, etc), those were always fun and overall great experience. Can't wait for this one!
 
Any of you guys take anything besides protein post workout? I’ve been going on 20+ mile bike rides and I’m looking for something to help me feel less drained after :lol:

I make my own protein shakes. Peanut butter, a banana, oats, a little Hersheys cocoa powder, and water. Put it in a blender until it' smooth.

i'd be pissed if Kobe shows up though

it wasn't exactly a Nike run but Kobe had this sponsored run for the homeless and he showed up and at the finishline was a performance by Kanye, i was heated that I missed it
 
Who's running the Nike GO LA 10K aka Nike Epic React 10K? I'm thinking about it, but the costs of the flight, hotel AND paying for a race tee to run 6.2mi are veering me away.
