Scarface Says Rap Is "Sounding Stupider And Stupider"

These older rappers can't do anything about it because their time has come and gone, that doesn't mean we should write their opinions off though. This current generation is stuck on stupid and while there are artist such as Kendrick & Joey, a handful of good artist in the mainstream aren't doing the culture any justice on a whole. For every halfway decent artist nowadays you have a dozen horrible ones. What amazes me more is how whack artist get so much support.

cuz they brainwashed people into believing that not liking something makes you a hater.

PEOPLE are sounding stupider and stupider. The music may be contributing, but as a whole, entertainment has been dumbed down. Around the time that "reality" TV started becoming the norm, I saw this coming. I don't expect a cookie or trophy for my observations, but when I grew up it seemed like everyone wanted to shine, but no one wanted to do any work. I noticed that most people had that reality TV syndrome, where you get noticed for nothing but being visible. A few generations later it's worse with IG and Twitter validating every attention hungry idiot that has nothing to say.

"Ratchet-ness" :rolleyes :smh: is celebrated and now most people find the corniest **** funny/entertaining, which only encourages more of it to be produced. As a whole, our society gives credit too easily and has a short memory and attention span. Everything new is the best because we're to lazy to do any research on where an idea originated from and on who may have done it better. All this damn internet and what is it really used for? Thirst, porn, spam and idiocy, mostly.

Yea, I agree partially with what he is sayin. I mean there is still good music out right now but the problem is that it is not played on mainstream radio and TV. You kinda have to search for the good stuff. Like others have said, Drake, Kendrick, J Cole to name a few have been putting out good music so to only focus on the Chief Keef's of the world is not quite fair and accurate.

For real  I mentioned in another thread that if I was in high school, I couldn't imagine getting legit hype at a prom or house party to nearly any of these mainstream rap songs. It may as well be 1 never-ending track, cause so much is the same disposable beats and rhymes

The problem is that there's more music than ever being released now. So even if it's the same percentage that's good and bad as it was 30 years ago, there's gonna be more bad rap albums because there's more total releases. And if you listen to all rap records that come out and only the best country and rock records (cause that's not your focus) you're gonna end up saying things like Scarface said.

That said, too many current rappers focus on bragging about how great they are and how much money they got, and not enough focus on having an actual message.

You bugging, Adorn You would have been #1 whether it came out today or 17 years ago

given that 17 years ago was 1998.... you probably right. Got damn , 17 years ago?? I WAS IN MIDDLE SCHOOL 17 YEARS AGO!?!? I just had a mini moment right there

Anyways, to follow suit with Face comments he said 20 or 30 years ago. I do think he would've help up against mid-90s R&B... wait, nah... Jodeci and Silk, Shai, etc. 1993, 1994 nah.... not looking good for Miguel. Obviously it wouldn't have held up in the 80s or 70s.

I don't think a lot of ppl realize just how powerful music was in the 60s, 70s. And these weren't done by YOUNG ppl either. I mean, ya'll know Stevie Wonder WROTE, PRODUCED, ARRANGED, PERFORMED Songs in the Key of life when he was got damn 25!? TWENTY DAMN FIVE. The first album he wrote, produced, arranged, and performed was "Where I'm Coming From," he was 20. Most 20 years olds in the game right now sound like they are 12. **** most 30 years olds in the game right now sound like they are 12. Right, let that marinate for a minute. Not that BS either like today when you see a slew of names in the production and writing credits either. It's one name; Stevie Wonder... a few others if he brought in people to play additional instruments. But on some songs, literally everything was done by him... drums, keyboards, vocals, etc.

That's just Soul/R&B.... we not even gon' talk about Rock right now.

Frank Ocean ain't do the whole show.... John Legend don't do the whole show. However, of today's current artists John Legend is one of the few male artists has TIMELESS records under his belt. "Ordinary People" is magnificent... just truly a living work of art. Even still, don't nobody do the whole damn show no more. We take it cuz it's what they give us but music today is so watered down it's sad when you really sit and think about it.

I'm pretend somebody just didn't mention "quality" and "drake" in the same sentence. If he would stick to singing I think he could've maybe been mentioned with some of the great 90s R&B male groups. And that's me being generous.

It don't even matter all the time of doing the whole show. The whole show behind the artist ain't as great either. We ain't got no Face/Reid or Jimmy/Lewis or any of the top producers anymore. As a result the show suffers..... bad. Kelly still here, but he be losing me sometimes(although I found some gems on the new album)

I'm just waiting for what JD/Cox/Austin got planned.... they the last ones I'm hoping for.

I don't need you to do the Whole show(lets face it Stevie, Prince, Gaye are a rare breed and still there is so much good R&B besides just the do it all guys)

Meh, I miss the balance. Ain't nobody saying everything was good in the past(see below video and song), but there was a balance. Now the Bad outweighs the good or sometimes there just ain't no real damn good. (I can name 10 R&B groups from the late 90s........ I can't name 1 today in 2014 with good music)  I can name 10 good R&B chicks from 98 alone........ I can't name 1(I don't count K Michelle)

Video(Written by Stevie J...... although he did have some hits)

they give watered down **** and we take it :smh:

And Gaye wasn't a "do it all" guy, Price, yes.

Man this **** today is good in relative standards---like good comparable to what's out. If you dying of thirst **** you can make yourself think dirty *** water is good when the only other option is urine from yourself or a friend.

it really is terrible.. listening to any hip hop station today sounds like long #@% Future record

honestly even though i hate like 99% of mainstream hip hop there are still great rappers i can even go as far as to say there are several contemporary rappers that are better than ANY rappers in the 90s and 80s. You won't find much great hip hop on the radio anymore but if you take the time to find some underground rappers you will find some really good ones
