more info on this?

Actually, if a TV or an electronic gets returned it's usually done through my department, if we can't find anything wrong with it wait about 2-3 days or whenever we get around to putting it out on the floor from the repair room it will be CRAZY reduced, employees can't hold anything, but if you're nice enough to the guys in the department they'll usually let you in on something.
We had one of those huge awesome Samsung fridges get returned a couple months ago that costs $1500+ and because it got returned and we couldn't find anything wrong with it it got marked down to $700, needless to say it didn't last long on the floor.

55 inch 3D LED Smart TV that costs $1200 got reduced to $500.

It all really depends on the kind of people working in the back, we have a say in how much it gets marked down.
hmmm where you located my man......

might have to introduce you to mr Benjamin ....

Texas, I work in one of the biggest stores in my city, I really can't say if what I posted goes for every store but like I said, usually there's a gem or two in the back room that just hasn't been put out on the floor yet.
Some stuff about Sears,

-If you buy ANYTHING that requires assembly, PLEASE DO NOT come to the store the next day demanding your stuff, no we aren't messing it up, no we're not just putting it off because we don't want to do it, we have a LONG list of things that need to be assembled and 9/10 the associate doesn't tell you that there's a 3 day waiting period for it to be assembled.

We had a lady buy a bike and show up 5 minutes later demanding it, we had just pulled it and got no notice that it was supposed to be assembled so we apologized and offered the one on the floor at a reduced price, (PRO TIP: If you ask for the display, as long as a manager approves it you can rack up discounts on it) she didn't want it so I had to drop what I was doing and assemble it for her and even then she didn't pick it up till 2 days later.

-If it says we have 10 in stock online, chances are we only have 2 in store, our counts are so messed up it's not even funny.

-The last time I posted in this kind of thread I said I used to punt boxes out the truck and drop TV's, yeah I don't do that anymore, it got to the point where I felt bad about doing it because, hell, how would you feel if you bought something and it was all messed up? I get on the other guys in the department for doing it now since I've been put in charge more and more lately, I'm not a model employee but I'm one of my supervisors favorites because I stopped cutting corners, even though we're both on the chopping block now.

-If your merchandise is damaged, please don't get angry at the guy who brought it out to you, if you're nice we WILL go out of our way and get you a new one, we'll even skip the return process you have to go through.

-Don't call the store angry that your washer, fridge, or dishwasher hasn't been delivered, we don't deal with that, we just pull the merchandise and set it up for delivery, it's the Sears delivery service that skips over some of their deliveries so they can go home early.

-If you bought something in the store and we didn't have it so it has to be delivered on our next truck, word to the wise, call after 2 to see if it's there.

Monday and Thursday we get appliance trucks, so if you bought a fridge call after 1 and it'll be ready for pick up.

Tuesday and Friday we get regular merchandise, call after 2 and we'll take a look and see if it came off the truck already, chances are it has.

Don't come to any casino on the east coast.

I will take all of your money, give it to the less fortunate, and not a single damb will be given.

My dude, you're like a modern day robin hood.

I've worked as a door to door "sales"person for two companies and at a 5 star 5 diamond restaurant/inn
d2d sales:

one company we would just hit up any neighborhood with houses that were at least 15 years old (like 75% of northern virginia) and knock on every door possible, met some crazy people, the best way to get rid of d2d people is not to ignore or be rude but rather by politely saying no, that way we won't %$!$ ur yard up, some of my coworkers did messed up things to people who were mean, and our managers knew and laughed at it.

if we think you're trying to ignore us we'll continue ringing the doorbell, if we KNOW you're ignoring us we'll keep ringing the bell, when you're knocking on every door possible you look for little chances to %$!$ around, at least i did.

the other company i worked for we kept a log of the houses we went to and would visit the same neighborhoods frequently until we either got the cops called on us, or successfully sold to everyone there. 9 times out of 10 if u tell us not to come back, we will come back, and we will come back as soon as possible. also calling the cops is futile because at least one person in the team has a solicitors license and can legally knock on doors unless the entire neighborhood has no soliciting signs or you have one on your door

five star restaurant

if u leave wine in your bottle its getting drank, if you leave food on your plate its getting eaten, if you're rude at any point, you get labeled a POW (piece of work) and the entire staff including the kitchen knows you're a **** and will probably either ignore you or talk to you sparingly. if u ask to get something packed to go most likely a quarter of your food will be eaten. i dunno nothing too crazy now that i think about it

I worked at Sears for over 4 years, and while some things may vary depending on the store, these guys are right on the money.

On the real, I had a feeling you played poker for a living.

oh yeah i also forgot when i worked at a resturaunt, if a black guest came in they're a code 7, and like everyone wants to wait on them cuz black people have more personality than stuck up white people. but unfortunately we'd get like 1 or 2 black guests a week i think theres a stigma at least in the dmv area that the resturaunt i worked at is for rich white people who knows

I work for a publishing company, ain't a damb thing exciting over here. No secrets or tricks of the trade. The only thing I can tell you is that you have a legal to publish, have it faxed in time. No one likes working over time because you were a lazy jerk.

. You could either work at the school or work at the houses, i was at the school.

At the school, the main/important thing were trying to do is to get rid of their behaviors such as aggression, property damage, self injury, etc. Many of us dont care but we also try to educate them numbers, the ABC, and all that stuff.

-Half the time, when were lazy we take them to the gym, and just sit down and not a damb is given.
-We're required to fill out data on their behaviors, most of the time the data is bullcrap.
-If youre on good terms with the psychologist/supervisors/ or anybody with an upper position, you have a better chance with keeping your job.
-If the supervisors screw up, they will blame it on one of us.
-If your child is being stubborn, the staff WILL take them to the bathroom and handle it, i've seen it with my own eyes

. Luckily my kid was chill

-At my job, theres a saying, "The less the parents know, the better"
-90% of the staff dont really give a damn about the kids, theyre just there for a paycheck.
-When parents or important people come from the county, they give you an alert to "look good"

If you have an autistic child or relative, please be careful with where you send them off to, dont just give them to anybody. Do the damn research Or better yet take care of them yourself.

Thats all i can come up with at the moment.

IT Support... if you piss me off, *click*. I hang up on folks all the time because I don't feel like doing work, "Okay sir I... *CLICK*"

I've gotten "How do I turn on my Blackberry" questions from guys making $120k. I surf the web all day, hardly any work.

i work the finances on research grants for doctors at a top university. Let me just say, between research grants and discretionary funds given from the school, these doctors don't have to spend a dime of their six figure salaries on everyday expenses. Dinners, hotels, trips, electronics, cell phone bills, etc, all charged to these research funds. Trips to hawaii with wifey and the kid? Charge it to the grant and say I attended a medical conference. Cop 2 new Ipads? Charge it to the grant, need it to conduct research on go. I be seeing these receipts for reimbursement (receipts are a whole nother story... i swear one of the younger doctors i work with wines and dines these women on his research grants bill) and they reasoning they give and i'm like *cam'ron gif*.

edit: helps you get an idea why the gap between rich and poor widens - rich only spend their own money on things that appreciate or create wealth (i.e. mortgages, investments, tuition, etc.)

I used to work at a roofing/siding supply store and I can tell you that you should really be nice to the guy loading/delivering your supplies..

-If you come into the warehouse and are rude/bossy then you're in for it..We will give you the wrong materials, scratch your car/truck on purpose, throw some spare nails under your tires, short your order and anything else we can think of to ruin your day..

-Don't give your keys to us and ask us to pull your truck around back cause you're too lazy..We will go through your whole vehicle and take any change/money/cd's/glovebox finds..

-If you're courteous to us or give us a tip then we are going to go out of our way to make sure your truck is loaded so it's easier for you to unload even if it's harder for us to load..We're hooking you up with extra stuff or we'll give you an upgrade on some better materials (which you can turn around and bring back and make some extra cash)..

-Treat the delivery drivers nice and they'll hook you up..Treat them bad or be rude and they will drive through your lawn with a 30,000 lb. truck, they'll run over your mail box, they'll even try their hardest to drive on the edge of your driveway in an effort to crumble the concrete/asphalt..

-Be home when your driver gets there to deliver your shingles..Go outside and offer him a bottle of water or a soda..If he does a good job loading your shingles on the roof then give him a tip and most of the time he'll write on your paperwork that he was unable to load them on the roof and your account needs credited with a refund on the $150-300 fee we charge..

-Make sure you check the batch numbers on your shingles before they get put on your roof..If all them don't have the same number on them your roof will look splotchy and not have an even color throughout the entire roof..Just because the name of the color is the same on each wrapper doesnt mean they'll look the same..Each batch from the manufacturer is slightly different..It's kinda like getting a dent in your car door and having just the dent repainted..The painter will use the factory color code, but you know those shades aren't going to match up cause it's not the exact same paint as what the factory used..Same goes with siding..You don't want your home to look like crap so take the extra half hour to check the products you paid for..

-When you're buying any shingles, siding, rolled roofing, nail guns, or other big ticket items make sure you haggle..And when the guy at the counter tells you that he can't go any lower, he still charging you 30% over what we pay for it..So make sure to go to more than one place for estimates..And never go to Lowes or Home Depot to buy this stuff cause their markups are worse than ours..

By the time it goes to collections, your credit score is already uffed up so it might not matter depending on the age of the debt.  My old company used to buy million dollar portfolios of old debt that was already stat barred (statute of limitations already expired) for pennies on the dollar.  Our job was to scare people into thinking they would get sued if they didn't pay their $600 Sears debt that was now $2200.  Of course we would tell them that we would accept 50% of the $2200 if they could make a lump sum payment right away.  What is messed up is that if you make a single payment (for any amount, even $1), that old debt is now "reactivated" as a new debt and can now be placed on your credit report as such.
I keep telling people this. I love when collections call. I curse them out so bad and talk stuff. Junk debt buyers. Usually they arent legally even able to collect on the debt and vioate all  kinds of credit laws.
When they call me at work or on my cell, i send them a cease letter so they cant call me anymore. If they report me to the credit agency, I validate the debt with them, which they have to show proof they own the debt legally and allowed to collect in my state. Most of time it gets deleted and debt is gone once they realize  im smarter then average bear.

I sued a few collection agency for violations and won $1500 at a time

awesome info
