***SF Giants 2009 Season Thread (88-74)***

^don't sell the Giants short, they haven't lost a series since their third one of the season, they aren't that bad

the bullpen has been giving too many runs this season and is an issue that should be addressed. If they can strengthen up the bullpen and maybe get one moresolid bat in the lineup, this team can be really good.

I agree with this

Zimmermann vs Cain should be a dandy...two young guns.

I didn't mean it as they sucked. I mean that this team is pretty good, but its a team that came off a 90 loss season last year. Thisisn't a team that is expected to win 90 games and be in the playoff hunt, where "how the team wins" is givin more importance. This teamisn't guaranteed to be in the race at the end of the year, and have a good amount of inexperienced guys, so any and all wins we can stack right now areimportant, however we get them. I hope that makes sense. It was much clearer in my head.

Yeah I get what you're saying, but I am still going to stick by my statement that you're selling this team short.

I know the expectations weren't that high coming into the season, but I think they have shown that they are a good team who just got off to a slow start. I'm down to take wins as they come, but making a few moves to benefit the bullpen can make this already good team, a lot better.

Don't get me wrong though, I'm also not going to crown these guys because they've won some division games, remember how quickly AZ jumped out atthe beginning of the season last year? but the reality was that they were just steamrolling NL West teams. I think we will know how good the Giants can beonce they start playing out of division squads on a more consistent basis.

My point is that we shouldn't get complacent just because nothing was expected of them. This team looks decent and I don't think it would take verymuch to make this team a contender.

Where'd you get that stat?

Nevertheless, I still don't like him.

Its true....I can verify. Heard it as well.

And Paul....my dude.....I dont know if you are quite taking this stat the way we are. We arent saying that this stat is necessarily a good thing. I mean...heis hitting close to .500 WHEN HE HITS THE BALL!!!! To me, all that means is he doesnt hit the ball nearly enough and strikes out far too much if he is onlyhitting .280ish. Basically, all this fool needs to do is hit the freakin ball every time he is up, and he would get 2 hits a game. But hackin, whiffin Freddystays striking out.

We should all start callin him K-Fred.....word to DBruce.

Lewis doesn't expand his zone with 2 strikes. Dude doesn't protect with 2 stikes. How many punch-outs has this +@+@% had with the bat on his shoulder?

Adam Jones > Dexter Fowler > ................................ > Fred Lewis

Lewis is slower than both, his glove is worse, etc ...

Nah, I get that. I know he HAS TO HIT THE BALL in order to have that .493 avg. I just thought I'd put that I still don't like him in mypost... well because I don't like him. I feel bad for the people who are going to see Fred Lewis when he has his autograph signing at Lefty's. Waste ofmoney

That's a ridiculous stat.

Why not kick it up another level and say that he's batting 1.000 during at-bats when he gets a hit?

To me Lewis is more of a AL hitter. I can see him as a solid DH somewhere in the AL.

Oh yeah, I like the idea of Valdez being worked into the "set-up" rotation. Howry has fallen off. Haha.

Guzman continues to stay hot with the bat.
may 8th: 2/5 1rbi
may 9th: 2/4
may 10th: 2/4 2rbi

would be nice if they find a spot for him on the team...
whats the point of having velez on the active roster anyways? besides his speed.....which is barely showcased in games.
Might as well bring up guzman for his bat

I'm with that, instead of having the first baseman revolving door, move Sandoval over there and put Guzman at 3rd.

not that I have anything wrong with Sandoval at third

^I thought I heard they're working with Guzman at first so if he is brought up I think he would play first.

They may be, I've really only been paying attention to pitching and batting stats for Fresno. Either way it wouldn't bother me
