I heard Kick Push, it was cool, but didn't expect too much greatness. Then the summer of 06 my friend put one of his mixtapes on my ipod and i wasnt feelinit. Lil Wayne overshadowed anything out for me. Thats all I listened to at that time. Then I decided to listen to Food & Liquor wayyy after it came out andI got hooked. I skipped The Cool, then went back and listened. I have always been about lyrics. You have to want to feel what he's talkin bout. Its aboutattitude. You go in thinkin you're not going to like it, and you wont. A lot of his songs are about struggle and hardships, if you havent been through manyin your life, you won't care.

I enjoy some of his work and I even got a chance to see him perform live for free. It was cool and all, but I was there to see De La Soul who put on aheeeeeell of a show! De La is a hard act to follow.

All I have to say is:

Just because you don't get what he says, doesn't mean no one else does either.

Some people do understand his references, and that's what makes him so hot. He appeals to smarter people.

Hence, the "college degree" you spoke of when comparing him to Weezy, though Wayne is actually the one who went to college and not Lu.

I think alot of people who don't like Lupe don't understand any of his raps and just assume he's not making sense.

If it goes over your head, that doesn't mean that it went over my head. And that's part of why I dig him.

Also, he really is second coming of Nas.

To each his own, but Lupe is a undeniably talented artist. He not only writes incredibly well but he also orchestrates musically inclinedtracks. What's sad is that the majority of people's ideals on music are dominated by populist views. The common disingenuous man will think that heprefers to hear someone like lil wayne because he sees him as the most relatable or most enjoyable (a perfect blend of stereotypical rhymes and standard clubbeats) . When, in all actuality, the media is the one that is feeding messages to the public in an attempt to push the majority to be blind to real artistictalent and/or to lack interest for it. This is how everyone remains in a primitive mindset.

Hate to make it seem bigger than what it is but that's the only way that I can explain why Lupe's music or any of hiscontemporaries' music is not as well received.
