every time i need to give someone money, i try to write them as many checks as possible in weird increments.. 
example: i owed my boy $80 for Vegas (hotel split).. wrote him 3 checks from 3 different banks: $19.95, $41.44, & $18.61...

every now and then, id get away saving a couple of bucks because one of my checks are never cashed.
