I read that last line in Thor's voice from Ragnarok:
"It's what heroes do."

It's frustrating to see this inane argument over and over again. It's a silly associative premise that ignores the in-universe context and motivations explicitly stated by the characters.

I think it's rather clear in the movies why Yoda and Obi-Wan went into "hiding" or "exile". But if you want to pretend you don't understand why then go ahead.

You are absolutely right. The 50+ years of comic books involving those exact characters are totally unneeded.

Totally.

My dude, Disney and Marvel for that matter don't give an 'ish about 50+ years of comic books. They are telling their own 'ish with the MCU films and for the most part the casual movie goer doesn't need to read a book, play a video game, etc...

For example, Iron Man for decades in the comic books was Tony Stark's bodyguard. IM1 on the other hand went with some newer comic book ark/storyline where the world knows that Tony Stark IS Iron Man.

I don't agree with this. The original trilogy obi wan and Yoda did not hide because of what happened in the prequels...simply because the prequel story had not been written.

Lucas wrote the prequels in order to somehow line up to IV - VI.

Nah. Lucas actually had certain backstories planned out well in advance.

Either way it takes a ridiculous degree of cognitive dissonance and pretend ignorance to think that Obi-Wan and Yoda hid themselves away for the same reasons Luke did.

The only thing you need to understand Civil War the movie prior is Avengers, AoU, and maybe IM3.

I know a lot of non-comic fans who are movie lovers that can discuss the story and character motivations in deoth.

Not to mention the main error in this argument is MCU do not directly adapt the 60+ years of comic continuity. Sometimes they barely adapt and just use the concept or the premise.

Nolan's Batman flicks aren't adapted from a single Batman story. It just has inspiration of some classic comics. You don't need to read a single Bat comic to get any of them.

Same thing for Raimi's Spider-Man movies and Homecoming which is even further from the comics.

So according to you in the OT, Luke is no different than the other Jedi. He learned nothing from ANH to RotJ from Obi-Wan's and Yoda's failures. Nothing from his father who before death came back to the light side and brought balance to the force.

Damn if thats how you really feel I guess in 20-30 years Rey is going to try to murder one of her students for leaning towards to the dark side.

People mad that the Luke they got isn't what they fantasized about and hold a grudge forever because of it :smh:

Not everything in SW needs to be like Vader in R1, or an overly wild CGI fight. If Luke showed up for real to face Kylo y'all probably would have complained about how he got there not making any sense :smh:

"I have no valid or logical counterargument so I'm going to create a fictional, 'if this happened' scenario and place the people I disagree with inside of it"

Lmao what a reach for the stars here.

There's not one MCU movie where you scratch your head and ask... "why or how did this happen"
captain america didn't suddenly didn't get an ironman suit and use it as if he's been well versed in it for years (cough leia cough)

All you've done since this movie dropped is cry that you didn't get your way. Oh no, Luke didn't die by the sword, Rey isn't part of a special lineage, Kylo is complex! **** your life that it's not all exactly what you wanted, right? I'm not saying you cant have disagreements or be upset at some choices, but man you are in this thread daily *****ing about everything and acting like a ******* victim if someone calls you out for your incessant *****ing. Deal with it.

Luke went into exile like Yoda, didn't handle his **** like a "jedi," however infallible they're supposed to be. Some plot points about an ancient intergalactic space war spanning centuries of good vs evil magic with time-and-space bending technology didn't make sense? Deal with it. No it's not a perfect movie and there is PLENTY to criticize, maybe Luke hiding out for a couple decades after trying to kill an evil stronger than Vader being the most worthy. But it's ******* tiring having you carry a torch against anything or anyone that might praise this film. No one is painting you or others are being narrow minded or dumb. Criticism is natural and it sucks you didn't get what you wanted or that it's not a perfect fil.. But that doesn't make everyone who enjoyed the film a herd of sheep or casual plebs. Stop acting like you need to convince everyone who enjoyed the Last Jedi that they don't know what they're talking about.

You mean like Roadie with War Machine? You right.

MCU gets everything right, every detail, all perfect. ;)

I shouldn't be required to spend a single additional cent of my hard-earned money on supplemental materials in order to develop a true understanding of the plot of a movie or the motivations of its characters.

That's what I paid to see the damn movie for

Do I need to purchase the novelization of CA Civil War to understand why Tony has become a rigid and shell-shocked control freak or why Cap refuses to back down when he feels something is wrong? Hell, Peter Parker, who is one notch above cameo, is thoroughly fleshed-out on screen and with nary an Uncle Ben mention to be had.

Wanna make sure I’m perfectly clear here…….

You say Civil War Spidey is perfectly fleshed out, without you having to ever watch, or read another thing OUTSIDE of these movies…….

Civil War, Spidey…….

Ok, so, how did he become Spiderman? How do you know he even has an Uncle Ben? How does he have these powers? Why does he live with his Aunt May, where are his parents?

Lemme guess, you never read the comics, or watched the other FIVE friggin movies about Spiderman, you got it all from Civil War movie, and he’s perfectly fleshed out, in that film only, right? 8o

One name, Kathleen Kennedy...........Your star wars fantasies that you hoped for is all gone. Kathleen has the whole SW world in her hands now......

You mean like Roadie with War Machine? You right.

MCU gets everything right, every detail, all perfect.
was it not set up in the first movie that Rhodes was a Lt Col in the United States Airforce with a background in Aerospace Engineering. So he was set to be a test pilot for ironman flight suit which the airforce had already a similar program in the first movie already..
btw i've never read an Avengers comic.

Come on tdogg2k tdogg2k :lol

Dudes wanna come in here and get mad because they liked an objectively poorly-written movie

Y'all wrong for not letting us cook papis.

Did you not watch Iron Man in its entirety? Or IM2?

What don't you get about him getting the War Machine armor?

He didn't just shown up in it with no explanation :lol

Stop reaching.
