STAY/GET BACK IN SHAPE VOL 3.0 -- A New Niketalk = A New Thread

Got back in the gym in Jan I was 275 but wasn't really taking it serious until mid march I became a lot more consistent and I just hit goal weight number 1 260. I feel a lot better but I'm nowhere close to where I want to be but this is definitely better then where I was a year ago. Being consistent is the hardest part more than anything.

Its the summer time and I have way too much free time not to be in the gym doing SOMETHING. I'll take 3 days off at the most.

We can talk all the broscience and HIIT (even though I know its proven)we want, but the most important thing is consistency.

Agreed. Can't emphasize this enough.

Just started back up today! I'm going on vaca in January to Australia. gotta get my beach body for all the cluckas

anyone every take a week off from lifting?
i been going regularly for 4 months to the gym and i think my body is telling me i need a vacation.....
8o

Doing some back off sets might help, I know they've helped me when I've gotten stuck. Take your weight on whatever exercise and reduce it by 10% and work your way back up to the original weight by adding small increments of weight. So for example if I'm benching 200lb's I'd drop down to 180 and build back up to 200 by adding 5lbs each workout until I reach 200lbs again.

Hardest part is getting into the habit. Once you do that it becomes much easier to stay committed.
Agreed. Once you start, after a a few weeks or even as little as just one week and you already feel like its a habit. I used to absolutely hate running and im finding myself running 10 miles a week now. Might not be a lot to some people, but it also is a ton compared to others.

Like someone else said (or was it another forum?), keeping track of your weight loss also helps a lot. Feels like every pound you lose is like another victory under the belt, or another boxer you took out in the ring.

I still weigh myself every Saturday morning to make sure I stay within the limit. If I fluctuate a lb or two, that's fine..anything more then I get irritated at myself.

10 miles a week is good stuff. That's about my range too.

Not sure how many of the initial members post anymore, but I hope all you guys accomplish your goal. You may not get a 6 pack, but it feels good being fit and living a healthy lifestyle.

Not to sound spiritual or anything, but I think the discipline carried over to other things for me...I have that 'if you want to do it, do it for real' state of mind from all the weight lost.

When school starts back up Im going super ham..I just can't workout everyday..its tough working a labor job all day & then working out heavy..but yea rip to the 176-185lb me...goal is a solid 205..if i cant participate in the olympics Im going to look like those cats there lol

Anybody use those scales that connect with your iPhone I want to start keeping track especially since all the scales at my gym aren't electronic

IMO mechanical scales work best. I don't really trust electronic ones because what this one says, the next will say +/- 2-3. the next 4, and so on. Mechanical ones are your best bet, so long as you aren't cheating yourself

Been running the past month in 90-100 degree heat. NOBODY on the trails. Just make sure you're hydrated beforehand and go GET IT.

It's just a pain to try and zero them sometimes I don't feel like messing with them

About to go destroy my legs today. I'm doing that Kris Gethin 12 week trainer on bb.com and leg days are always hell.

Does it taste good with water? I had other brands of vanilla that didnt taste great with water and needed milk

No clue, never gave it a try. I can though in the interest of your question.

I've only used it with milk because I'm making mass-gaining shakes (the Whey + Banana + Peanut Butter + Oatmeal Flakes)).

i think that applies to alot of us. that kind of discipline definitely carries over to your other life activities as you mentioned.

keep that momentum going fellas. win the summer!

Thought this vid was appropriate given the mini discussion currently at hand.

I want to be ripped as **** NAOW, in time for my birthday in three weeks, but it's not possible. Wish this damn lingering pudge would disappear with the other stuff, but it's stubborn as hell :lol
What's funny to me is seeing how easy it was for me to hit the gym once I finally committed to it, and how I didn't really struggle to change my eating habits...at the current age of 24. :{

Had I known before how dedicated i'd become to this, I would've done this a LOT earlier in life, but alas, at least i'm doing it. And it feels great. I plan on being at LEAST 100lb down on my 1yr date, although as weight drops and time passes I keep upping my own personal goals, and that alone is a mini victory IMO. Currently, I have in my head the image of seeing 180 on the scale, because quite frankly I don't remember ever weighing that much :lol :( I remember being in elementary school fitting my dads size 32 levis for a time, then I remember being in fourth grade wearing my high school cousins solo's he had just tossed in the trash...size 36

Went to the GF's grandmas party last night, saw a lot of people I hadn't seen in a long time, most hadn't recognized me and walked right by me as they were asking my girl where I was, that feel fellas, it's great.

At this point, i'm 33lb from where I want to be, but again, the goal goes from harder to harder regularly.

I'll save my lifting goals for another day :lol

Cliffs: We all know change isn't going to happen overnight. Get over that first mental hump. We all know it won't be easy. We all know what it's going to take. I see a lot of folks, never talked to em, but I see they cheat themselves during their workouts, DONT BE THAT PERSON! IT'S NOT GOING TO HELP YOU ACHIEVE A THING! Consistency is key, during your routines, and in the kitchen. A lot of folks forget to pay attention to the latter, I don't get it since it's just as important if not MORE than what you do to break a sweat, a lot of times I feel that's the main contributor to what's holding you back from your goals.

Oh yeah, **** DIETS! Diets are always bound to fail! Change those habits. For good.

If you guys are talking about ON Gold Standard, then yes, it does taste good with water. I drink it with milk sometimes but usually just water.

Overate yesterday like a typical Saturday but I need 1 cheat day every week or I'll go crazy.
Plan on doing a lot of accessory workouts in the gym to make up for the bad eating yesterday.

Motivation and consistency is key :hat

QFT. I thought I would never lose weight but once I started I knew anything was possible, but im not stopping till I have a 6 pack lol

Once you start seeing results on the scale/mirror/whatever, the motivation really kicks in. Once that first mental hump is over, it becomes a lot easier (mentally) cause you know youre on the right track. Now when that first plateau hits...
