Exactly. Well story time folks. After squats I'm unracking weights to do ohp, same guy from last time say u done? I said we're about to do OHP as politely as I could cause I know dude got issues. He said but it's a squat rack. I said yeah but I'm not finish I'm doing ohp. He presses the issue. Says it's a squat rack at least 10x. So I put my head phones on. Bout to warm up with the bar. He says "f it, it's a squat rack" out loud and throws on two plates on one side of the bar as I approached the bar. Im keeping my cool don't say anything. I go try to take off the plates he on the other side tipping it over to cause imbalance to knock it over me. I said naw. And he does it 3-4 times as I tries to take the weight off. Mind u not he like 5'10" 210. I'm 5' 124. So I throw the plates off. N just stare at him. My boy finally come out the rest room. Hey man I'm trying to squat. It's a squat rack my boy said we're doing presses, a random on the other rack diffuse the situation said ey u can have ours. My boy said u can wait on them, he walks off say y'all know what y'all doing... who in the wrong??

So kind of late to the party on this topic but I thought I'd chime in to give some perspective. I feel like I see bad gym etiquette and lack of consideration every day and I think most of the time it's just a lack of perspective and understanding.

It sounds like dude was being entitled and aggressive as all hell. His approach and the whole "takeover" with the plates was uncalled for. Some people just have their own sets of rules and ideas and do that annoying "I'm gonna keep repeating my rule or principle until I get what I want thing".

That said, while overhead pressing inside the squat rack isn't anything wrong, taking up a squat rack for two different exercises back to back while someone is waiting and while it's more than one of you lifting can easily piss a few people off. Again I wasn't really there to see it all happen but I can see why dude might have been annoyed. When the gym is busy and there's people waiting to use a rack for an exercise they literally can't duplicate anywhere else in the gym, it's just better to be considerate of that. Maybe y'all could have worked in through his warmup sets or some some db or KB presses that day, I don't know. He sounded like somewhat of a bully though.

As far as things I've seen far more offensive:
1. Guy used to dominate one squat rack/platform for 2 hours straight during prime time every evening. Snatches, cleans, etc for like 30 minutes, then squats and front squats for another hour, then deadlifts on the platform, for another 30-45 minutes. Dude brought his own chalk, belted up, oly lifting shoes, the whole 9... Screamed on every set including the warm ups... in Equinox. He would get mad when they'd tell him he can't use the chalk or not to drop his weights from the top of a snatch. He was just in the wrong gym in so many ways.

2. Another guy used to do a circuit in the squat rack: 10 Pullups, 20 hanging leg raises with the ab straps, 20 push-ups on the lifting platform, 20 biceps curls on the lifting platform... With. An. Empty. Barbell. He did this for half an hour straight. Some little 5'5" 160lb dude in Adipowers just D-bo'd him like the guy in the above story, just put the bar on the rack and started loading his plates. It was one case where I thought dude was totally justified.

3. Guy a few weeks ago was using the power rack and set the pins to hold the bar just an inch or two below his knees. Looked like he was gonna do some rack pulls.... Except he only loaded 10lbs per side. Then walked over to the preacher curl bench, did some db preacher curls, then some barbell preacher curls, then some standing curls, THEN... Walked over to the rack where he had all his stuff, walked up to the bar, grabbed it up 2 inches off the rack, and did a set of barbell wrists curls. Wrists curls. In the squat rack. For when curling in the squat rack just isn't offensive enough. I watched all this from my office and I had a meeting going on but I was tempted to just ask him to leave.

400

Yall aint squatting and deadlifting until yall squatting while deadlifting. :lol

It's bumper plates, so the combined total is probably like 100lbs.

Side note, hit 355x5 on dreads today at 165 and it didn't feel hard. Shooting for 405 by New Years because I know I'll be hitting a wall soon.

Guess my "cut" is working. Weighed myself this morning, first time under 180 in a few years. Little lethargic, but I've shaved off most of my stomach and lifts haven't suffered too much.

Was doing pull ups today and was hanging there tired and the gym worker ran up and started lifting me like rafiki did to simba as a baby and got 12 more. :lol :hat
