STREET FIGHTER

someone help me out understand akuma and ryus story. did Ryu ever beat Akuma or what. is akuma only after ryu because he's the only one that can defeat him or give him a good fight

Akuma is Gouken's brother. Gouken is Ryu and Ken's master. When Akuma and Gouken were both students training under their master Goutetsu, they both were trained in the ansatsuken, a martial art used for killing. Gouken embraced the positive side of the martial art and Akuma embraced the dark side. Akuma become possessed with the Satsui no hado because he embraced the darkness and ended up killing their master but gouken beats Akuma. Akuma is after Ryu because Ryu is possessed with the satsui no hado as well.

Where it really gets interesting is Street Fighter alpha generations the film that implies that Akuma is Ryu's father and conceived with Goutetsu's daughter who dies as well. Gouken takes Ryu and raises him as his own since his brother was so far gone and obsessed with mastering satsui no hado while Gouken left to fork his own dojo, not wanting to embrace the murderous intent of the fighting style.Ever since I've seen the film all those years back, I've never been able to not see Akuma as Ryu's father. Even though Capcom has never outright confirmed it, it makes sense that Akuma is always after Ryu...

Watching Capcom Cup and they said all the other five characters will be new to the street fighter universe.

If that was the case, then what's the point of the silhouettes

Very well said.
Also Akuma in his possession with the satsui no hado is obsessed with finding a worthy opponent and apart from Gouken and Gen which both defeated him earlier, Ryu is prime target he if he can bring out the Satsui no Hado in him to turn him into Evil Ryu so he can have a worthy opponent.

^^ yes Akuma is obsessed with finding a worthy opponent as well. Just a walking death wish. I used to love the victory screen for Alpha 3 and the trash talk the characters would give when you win, especially Akuma. "Weakness is a disease, I am the cure" combined with that music and the announcer hyping you up?! "That's enough, UNBEATABLEEE!!!" Oh my goodness I'd be so hyped! :lol

And no way they'd throw in 4 completely new characters with Street Fighter 5's sales being the way they are. Plus if you look at the first silhouette, you can practically make out Viper on her cell phone

so that youtube movie thing was probably the most accurate

What YouTube movie? If you're speaking about Alpha generations, it's an animated film that came out in 2005

You're right :lol

I can see the bun she has.
I actually loved Viper in SFIV and Marvel so good news for me.

Ohhh, yeah I've seen a few episodes of the show and felt the acting was cheesy but they're really devoted to the Street Fighter lore and I have immense respect for that. It looks like a faithful telling of the story of how Ryu and Ken became world warriors. Does the show allude to Akuma being Ryu's father?

Viper was decent in vanilla IV but she became REALLY good from Super on forward and she was OP on the low in Marvel 3. One of the most slept on characters but her learning curve was hard. But if you devoted time to her she was unbeatable. She had a damn focus attack :x :x INSANE. So damn unfair but Marvel 3 gave every character something that was unique to their character from their game or comic. So beautiful.

You and I both man. Between holiday travel and work, haven't touched anything for a minute.

Adulting sucks fam :{

I have a feeling that most of the Marvel fanbase will not like Infinite. The more I think about it, the game just reminds me of SFxT. Coupled with the fact that Capcom is a special type of stubborn when it comes to acknowledging what worked and what doesn't (Gems/Power stones and teammate combos.) I just don't get why they would implement menhanics from a game that was so bad that nobody even likes talking about it?

I get the whole reboot thing, but, they should've understood that. All would be forgiven if they added more DLC to UMVC3 but ha..

They weren't allowed to touch Marvel, otherwise they would have patched it and kept on adding in characters.

From what I read, gems are like X-factor but whereas X-factor boosted speed, damage, health. Gems will be just one of those and you pick the one you want before the match.

Sounds a lot better than SFxT's system which was convoluted. Don't forget Marvel Super Heroes had a gem system waay before SFxT.

As for the 2v2, similar to SFxT too but the instant switching makes it different.

I'll wait for the beta since I have faith in Combofiend :lol

Trust me, I get it. But idk, man :lol

I honesty don't like how they want to cater to new people. I like a game that's intimidating.

it def shows that akuma and goukens master's daughter was in love with Akuma

Guess I have to buy a Ps4 for the holidays. Does anyone know if Ps3 TE sticks work for PS4?

Yea 2v2 is apparently because they want to cater to the casuals.
So is having no assists and no X-men :lol

I just need to see gameplay and impressions from the pro.

You can get a Brooke adapter for that.

I don't know what to think now about the 5 other characters.

That SFIV fight pad was the greatest controller ever so hard to come by these days

Marvel Infinite looks decent but like said its still early.
Very Capcom vs Tatsunoko like.

I wish they just give us Capcom vs SNK

Maybe it's cause the Alpha games were never really legendary tournament games like Super II Turbo or 3rd Strike, which got online remakes.

No assists alongside the 2v2 is a big step backwards to make it more accessible

dumbest thing ever....

i still stew over da button reconfig that happened from MVC2 to MVC3 :{

Morrigan and Captain America revealed for Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite

The Infinity Stone not only will enhance your team in Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite, but it apparently is part of the game's comeback mechanics as well.

Marvel Games executive producer, Mike Jones, was asked about how the 2v2 system works in the new title.

"We've gone deeper on what the team dynamic means," said Jones. "You're going to be able to free form, change your characters, and make up combos.

"You're also going to be able to choose an Infinity Stone, which augments your team, gives you new abilities, and gives you huge comeback mechanics," he said.

It's been stated that Infinity Stones are similar to having a tertiary fighter in this 2v2 game, something Marvel expressed again.

"So [an Infinity Stone] is almost like a third character," Jones noted. "A stone will augment your characters and give them abilities they didn't previously have."

Hyping up story mode

Marvel's team was very energetic when talking about Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite's story mode.

"We are personally very excited about the all new story mode," said Jones.

"We haven't shown much of that yet, but there's going to be a full cinematic story mode.

"You're going to see your favorite Marvel and Capcom characters crash into each other and see how they're going to interact," he said. "See unlikely alliances in an all new universe to explore."

Marvel Games creative director, Bill Rosemann, also added a few words.

"Marvel fans always want a story behind the fight," said Rosemann.

"Two heroes or villains fighting is cool, but the question is — why are they colliding?

"[MvCI will have a] big story mode explaining how these worlds come together, and why these characters must fight to the finish," he said.

The instant tag looks good. That's definitely growing on me.
Them describing the infinity stone as almost a third character is interesting too.

I'm ready to see more.
