Supreme Court Allows Congress to Ban TikTok Vol. President Trump, Please Save Us

I am for the ban. Is there a date I actually need to pay attention to or will this drag along for months/years?

I don’t want to be a conspiracy theorist but I wouldn’t be surprised if China is using AI to scrape the internet in order to identify dissidents and cross referencing other platforms to narrow down who they might be.

I’m sure the US is doing something similar however Tianamen Square, Hong Kong, and Xinjiang has shown CCP has no problem wiping their own people.

This is what I'm here for :hat

Beyond the propaganda from all sides, people all over the world are just like us. Everyone's tired of their governments and people just want to live their lives. Don't let the fear mongering and ignorance spew into your lives.

I'm glad it's getting banned.

As a whole Tik Tok is a net negative.
I strongly agree with the latter but guess what? If the ban goes through, all these lobomites will flood other social media.
Either way if you've scrolled through IG reels recently or scroll through your Twitter feed, can you really call it that much better?

I have no sympathy for TikTok 'influencers' (I hate this word) who failed to take their opportunities to spread their fortune in other ventures or at the bare minimum on other platforms.

That's fine I'm ok with that.

Ultimately Tik Tok's algo's are racist and allow for bottom of the barrel creators to thrive. IG reels and YT shorts aren't the same as Tik tok because both of those items are just features on their respective platforms not the main draw to either.

At the end of the day, some of the tik tok creators with still thrive. They will be able to go to other platforms and still be fine. Others not so much.

Does Tik Tok pay different than other sites?
I don't know the exact details but based on what I know from some of the content creators I know, they at least pay very well. You don't really get to negotiate different splits like you would on platforms like Twitch, Youtube or Kick though. I'm sure you probably can at far higher numbers but TikTok's userbase is so huge idk if they could afford giving all those creators in the lower millions of followers better rates. TikTok is MUCH better for newer creators in terms of both growth and monetization, I can at least certify that.
Youtube, Twitch, Kick, ... are all very unfavorable for anyone trying to start from the bottom. The algorithm is very top heavy and as a new creator you either magically go viral or have to work a slow grind to hopefully get some bigger creator to notice you.
Twitch's algorithm is even worse for new creators but I'm not too familiar with Kick's, I mainly know their payment splits are the best in the business.
YouTube shorts pays a relatively absurd amount but that has more to do with the Shorts algorhithm and the insane amount of views they get compared to regular content.

Overall, TikTok is the perfect utopia to BUILD a platform but eventually you're gonna need to spread out or reach so high on TikTok that you're getting insane amounts of branddeals.
Tiktok's payment system is more fair for everyone but it doesn't favor its top creators.

It's quite common to see TikTok influencers make the jump over the Youtube because its standard monetization is already good and it's much easier to bring your audience over and 'start' at an already privileged position. This is by no means a guarantee obviously but it has been a proven success.

Yeah but Tik Tok has a tendency to favor people of a specific skin complexion and push them to the top of feeds.

Tiktok views aint ****, when you get sponsorships and such is where the money is. You need multiple million view videos a week (if all you are doing to make money are videos to get views) to even sniff a decent paycheck. Views aint what you want per se, sponsorships are.

Unpopular opinion, but TikTok can lowkey be useful if you’re searching for specific things. I came across a lot of good date ideas, reviews for hotels/restaurants/excursions. I never posted tho.

IG to me is lowkey useless except for looking at cheeks and basketball highlights:lol Search function is trash.

TikTok def did help me out when I went to Vegas last year and its helped on other trips as well. But I know I can get similar information via Yelp which I use consistently.
