Tekashi 69 lookin at RICO

na. don't do that.
dj's nationwide and labels and the consumer has embraced these mumble rappers with colorful hair and tight clothing with pocketbooks.
we def have the talent but if we're being intentionally blocked then it is what it is until the gatekeepers feel differently.

First of all mumble rap BEEN over with. Secondly, colorful hair and tight clothing? You realize that's yall now right?

you realize that that's only because ppl have been made to feel like that's the only way to get on? due to everything we've already said about why ny fell?
ppl are underestimating the consumer + labels.

and mumble rap is still a thing. turn your radio on. all these rappers are singing with a mouth full of marbles.

with that said, don't get confused, ny still got bars, production is still there, the wittiness, all of that is in tact. its only a matter of time before we get it back.

if we're being honest and we take into account who's being pushed on social media (youtube, worldstar, ig, etc.) and the radio its rappers that pretty much exclusive sing and rappers that can't rap. a lot of them intentionally mumble.
i'm not one of these old heads out here ****ing on younger ppl and their musical choices and all that and in my feelings.

like *we* ****ed the game up. my generation. like I said in another post and maybe in another thread, we did not support artists we rocked with. we bootlegged using kazaa, winmx, etc. and labels rushed to get the next ying yang twins...labels chase profits and these record execs have an agenda.

you can say what you want, dj's in ny did not break artists. that is a fact.
payola is a thing. that is also a fact.
50 crushed the idea of unity. that is a fact.
the rocafella breakup was bad for hip hop. that is a fact.
ppl like dame, irv not being in positions to guide artists is bad for the game. that is a fact.
no artist development on these labels that are robbing these artists is bad for the genre. that is a fact.

its doesn't take rocket science to see how we got here.
now we got these fake *****s running around counting bread on ig and the youth wanting to be just like them.

only now do you start to see bars coming back (mainstream). but yeah, they're still singing and mumbling in most of these songs being pushed. period. I live in clt and I still hear it when they aren't playing da baby.

*Kanye shrug*

i think thats true...migos were unfairly tagged as mumble rappers early in their career....
what do the migos have to do with rappers not mumbling anymore?
these *****s still mumbling fwiw regardless of the migos not being mumble rap.

Y’all typing too much for this topic

See, one think I don't think some of y'all realize is, that how deep south ****** talk. The stuff you calling mumble rap(migos future ect) isn't mumble rap. Most of us from the south don't even hear that #regional. Playboi Carti, Johnny Cinco was mumble rappers for example.

All facts my homie worked as a paralegal and he told me the biggest street dudes snitch on the regular. Think about it if ur facing 25 yrs in jail and all u gotta do to get out is tell on someone you think they gon say no?

For the people that never been to jail. Once you get processed and are waiting to get a bond or have one and are settled into where you will be held, there is an indescribable feeling of “they got me”. Couple that with an experienced person that understands the magnitude of their crimes and possible punishment, it’s like panic. They will tell.

this but he knew what he was getting into.

Of course he knew. When it got hot, he did what was expected of him. They got involved with someone that would have had no problem cooperating. The level of detail in the testimony is crazy.

90% of the *****s people classify as mumble rap...aren’t mumble rappers. It’s a pejorative out of touch dudes who couldn’t catch the vibe use to label a lot of southern street rap, young rappers & trap music post 2015. Funniest thing to me is migos predated “mumble rap”...and people understood them clearly before the term caught on...and they associated them with it. When I saw dudes like 21 Savage or NBA Youngboy being dismissed “mumble rap”...I knew what it was.

SoundCloud rappers, troll rappers and clones is much more what dudes probably should correctly recognize as “not good”. Clear difference. That’s your Lil Pumps, Trippie Reds, Lil Yachty, Tekashi, Lil Xan....and all the other cartoonish social media rappers that appealed to children, and troll culture. But that’s a whole nother thing in itself.

i think thats true...migos were unfairly tagged as mumble rappers early in their career....

Yep. People been using the mumble rapper for years just to slander bad music in general yet the rappers they slander don’t even mumble :lol

But yea SixNine sucks and should’ve either kept making shirts or whatever he was doing beforehand, or reggaeton like somebody already mentioned

ill still take tekashi69 over everyone else you just named.

I live down south and have been into hip hop in general my whole life but was introduced to southern hip hop and listened to it since whoop and whoomp there it is. I have a large trap playlist that rivals anyone from down here.
ppl don't want to say these dudes mumble but they mumble. no i'm not talking about da baby or migos.
i'm not going to sit here and pretend like rappers from the south now sound as coherent as rappers from the south then.

lol i'm not someone who didn't leave my borough. I feel how I feel based off of what i'm hearing.
everybody down here isn't playing da baby and again, i'm in charlotte.

but aight, you guys got it. nobody is mumbling. everybody spitting bars out here now.

da super sad irony like i said is Gummo was DONE and recorded before he ever sought help from da bloods as glorified props for da music video...he could've just shot da video without those fools and da song was gonna STILL pop cuz it was dope regardless.

i remember someone posted da gummo video games n da music thread and i always ignored it...soon as i heard it on da radio i thought it was fiiiire, not knowing it was comin from da same rainbow haired kid...duke should've kept it clean b.

Mumble or not, I don’t listen to any of the “social media pushed rappers” everyone has been listing.

There’s just so much better music out there but the masses don’t wanna hear it.

Honestly to this take I’ve never heard a 69 song, I still don’t understand how that persona blew up. Mainstream rap sure has changed.

think this is a fallacy...da public wanted 69... you saw that crowd pop in powerhouse 105 in da Barclays.

furthermore, I wouldn't know who da good rappers from Griselda records would be without social media push from their fans.
