Its still true. The Grizz cannot beat the Spurs.

Gasol's in doing Pop favors mode until he can go there, Robert Pera burns his jersey before every game.

Speaking of...

David Locke: Derrick Favors has been very impressive this season. Let me tell you how - 1) Career high 57% FG, 5% better than previous career high.

Except the time they beat the Spurs in 6 games, without Rudy Gay

That was before the Spurs took the Grizz serious and they were caught off guard by Zbo.

The recipe for Memphis to beat the Spurs is to do it without Tony Allen and Zach Randolph. At PF, Memphis got to play a stretch 4 (whether its Prince or Leuer). When Vince gets it going try him against Bonner or Diaw and see if that makes a mismatch.

Against the Spurs you can play small ball, even play a guy like Udrih more because they don't use one on one scorers that can expose him defensively.

Memphis just needto scrap their identity against them and play their game. We can be ourselves against the Clips, Thunder, Warriors, etc. Just not in this matchup. Whenever Memphis made some sort of run, it was because of the Conley/Gasol pick n roll. Trying to get Zbo going is simply not going to work against Pop anymore. After only winning like two games against them in the last 20 meetings, I would hope the coaching staff/players would get that. As great of a defender TA is, he's better used against isolation players. The Spurs share the basketball so well that he's not able to really focus on one particular player. Maybe Leonard could be that guy, but TA gets caught slipping on a lot of backdoor cuts and screens too much.

The one reason why I thought Memphis would struggle against them tonight was due to the force feeding of Zbo and playing TA too many minutes. And for some odd reason, Courtney Lee didn't want to take a 3 tonight. Grizz basically got to space the floor and stay away from Zbo/TA against them.

Its kinda like when the Clippers played the Grizz and it was something as simple as playing Reggie Evans instead of DeAndre Jordan that helped them over come their problems against our bigs. Sometimes you have to limit your regular starter to play someone that will matchup better against the opposing team. And its obvious that the Spurs are in Zbo's head. He was missing wide open chip shots because he was so frustrated.

 yea and his arm was looking like Mega Man

Whether Manu was 100% healthy or not, they simply did not have an answer for Zbo in that series. He was the best player in the series and the Spurs had no answer for him. Just one of those things.
