So out of all that, you found one outlier that had the greatest basketball player in the world.

Great job finding the exception and not the rule, like I said prefer what you like but the proof is in the pudding.
they won 2 of the last 3 titles....

and if we want to throw the current champs in there..... Khawi Leonard was arguably their defensive MVP

so, the exception would be the LAST THREE YEARS...

wouldn't that be more of a reason for me to have this preference?  seeing as how lately you can take one guy and have him give guards and forwards (typically the best scoring options on a team) nightmares

Bigs have a bigger defensive impact than guards

You don't want sh****defenders at guard though because it puts too much pressure on the defense

Its kinda common sense, that can be traced to even your local gym

Davis would be running for dpoy, MVP and all star/ all nba if he didn't play for the pelicans :{

If perimeter defense is more valuable than rim protection, then why did the Cavs just give up TWO first round picks for Timofey effing Mozgov lol. I mean, they could have just picked up another perimeter defender for way cheaper and called it a day, right?

It ain't preference, rim protection is more important than perimeter defense, it's a fact that's been proven time and time again.

You can prefer what you like but math is math.
show me these numbers and show me that all coaches agree with it .....

if math was math... all teams would live by the same philosophy and build teams exactly the same
IDK how in depth of numbers you want but look at Andrea Bargnani. He is a horrendous defender and teams hes played on have been last in defense in the league twice and were in the mid twenties two times. Then you look at a guy like James Harden who is also a terrible defender (albeit improving) and his mishaps on the defensive end have less of an impact on the teams overall defense, even in the pre Houston Dwight Howard days.

Having a good defensive big matters way way more, at least to me it does.

Are you kidding fam? :x :lol

Tim Duncan allowed Kawhi to be Kawhi, you just don't get it.

Once again Heat are an outlier and I'm willing to bet that never happens again.

Also the biggest reason they went 2-2 instead of 4-0 in the Finals?

***** YOU GUESSED IT, rim protection.

You just arguing for the sake of arguing.

who's arguing?

all I said was give me a guy like Khawi that I can put on multiple perimeter play makers before a post defender

I even said MY PREFERENCE..... and yall ****** wanna argue with me about my opinion

I wasn't trying to pass it off as fact ...

like I said.... even the professionals have their philosophies and how they build a team... what they're looking for ...and what they find value in

Your "preference" is the recipe for a first round exit, at best.

Is dwight even gonna play enough games to be in DPOY discussion? Also can't help that houston's defense was elite without him.

And who was kawhi guarding in the finals anyway? Please don't say lebron

Yea ignore how multiple people disproved that statement.

Ignrore the defending champs have one of the greatest rim protectors ever.
NT will argue whether Chris Paul is fat or not....

but now what 2-3 people say is facts....

oh ok.

Dude really put hibbert & serge in dpoy convo

Bottom seeders dont win awards, i thought this was common knowledge

Dwight, joakim, deandre, marc all have a chance

He made him work but lebron got his. That one game where kawhi went off in the first, him and bron were going bucket for bucket. Bron would get off in spurts and when he was quiet nobody stepped up. The rest of the heat were incredibly poor that series.

best =/= most important (which is what Spo said, and OKB reiterated)

You can be the best perimeter defender in the world, but without rim protection, it's meaningless.

Hence the Cavs giving up 2 first round picks for Timofey Mosgov.

ESPN is dumping Knicks games from their NBA schedule. http://dlvr.it/83VYZL

Can TNT not change the games on its schedule like ESPN can? I guess not since most of the time the TNT games are the only ones being played on Thursday.

Dwight is the man. If he wasn't hated as much, and injured to start the season. It should be him. Other than that, give me Duncan.

There is absolutely no defending Roy Hibberts rebounding woes with that "team rebounding" nonsense.

DPOY know a days is all about narratives. After all star break, the media will push a big with a top 10 defense, or team with a defensive inprovement and a reputation for being a "rim protector."

It'll end up being Marc Gasol again or something. Not saying he isn't deserving.
