it's alot easier to gauge the MVP and 6th Man because what puts them in the conversation can be seen on paper....
if a team is at the top of the standings, and their best player is putting up crazy stats.... chances are he's in the MVP discussion -- it's not an award based on "what doesn't show up in the stat sheet" ... it's a stat driven award
DPOY is something you have to watch for .... the boxscore isn't going to tell me how well someone played defense .... you;d have to start looking at advanced metrics and **** like that...
again, it's nothing someone with simply a league pass subscription is going to gauge properly.... you have to break that **** down and study it

Re: DPOY I don't think it has to be that intricate. When you're on the court it doesn't take long to see who's food and who you need to attack methodically. DPOY was around before this advanced stats wave after all

Draymond has been better than both of them, I struggle to understand what you're talking about.
Pau has been better than Marc even, but you don't even remember your own teams fails correctly so I'm not surprised.

1. If you are not on a top 10 D or at least above average, don't really see how you can be the DPOY unless the circumstances are extraordinary. so that disqualifies Deandre.
2. I really don't think any perimeter playing should win the DPOY, again unless you are a generational defensive talent like Scottie Pippen, or Ron Artest.
So that leaves my ballot looking like
Draymond Green
Tim Duncan
Serge Ibaka
Roy Hibbert
If I were to give any perimeter player a vote it would probably be John Wall.

In terms of DPOY it just annoys me that Tim Duncan never won one. But again I get to watch all of his games and see how much of a force he is on Defense. He has been out defense for like the last 5 years or so.
