I think dudes are underestimating how much more complex defenses are today.

Not that Magic wasn't great, but he wasn't a great shooter or athlete, that's not exactly a recipe for 25ppg in todays league

Finally somebody with some logical thinking.

That's what you think is logic? You really think field goal and FT percentage directly correlate to how much someone can/would score? By that "logic" Kyle Korver should be averaging 30 since he's shooting 50-50-90. Could Magic score 25 a game? Maybe. Would he? No. He always was and would be today a pass first point guard. He would score as much as he needed to and more often than not, that would be less than 25.

You said yourself that he would care more about winning than stats, so what makes you think that he'd go out of his way to score a lot of points.

Magic Johnson in a spaced out floor with multiple shooters, with pick and rolls galore, along with his open court skills, he'd be a triple double machine even moreso than he already was.

He played just under a thousand games, and was within a rebound or assist or two from almost 300 Triple Doubles. (give or take a couple)

And defensively, they could place him on 3 and D guys, rather than the PG's to help "hide" him on that end.

They didn't have spacing in the 80's, the way they do now, he'd be a criminal in this NBA. :smh:

Magic shot 85% from the line. With this soft league, he could average 25ppg. He wasnt known as a scorer per se, but he shot over 50% for his career.

That was all before zone defenses were allowed though. He'd avg assists & boards though. It's actually tougher to score in today's game w/ no illegal defense rule.

If his team needed him to score 25 ppg to win Magic would score 25 ppg in today's game. Simple as that.

No.

If his team needed 25 on a given night, absolutely. But over 82? No way dude. Magic was not wired like that.

Magic was the kind of player who could dominate a game without taking a shot, not so sure why that would have to change in today's nba.
