I've actually held one of these rings. It's really as ridiculously massive as it looks.

Compare to the simplicity of their ring from 1997

This one is pretty nice in person as well. The pic doesn't do it justice
Lakers' Title Ring Can Be Yours For Only $22,500
The hype machine is in full throttle for the Lakers & the Celtics, as the long-time rivals renew acquaintances in the NBA Finals. So, why not hypeyourself up even more by acquiring a real Lakers championship ring?

DEADSPIN lets us in on the sale of the century, as eBay bounces along some basketball bling-blingup for bids.

The ring is from the Lake Show's 1999-2000 season - Shaq & Kobe's first championship together. And what betterchance to remember the halcyon days of Lakers harmony than with this sweet piece of hand jewelry.

Or what better item for a Celtics fan to purchase - just to smash it to pieces with a hammer.

The auction will last until next Tuesday, June 10. Bidding starts at $22,500 - so any belligerent Boston bidders better be billionaires.

Just for fun, take a gander at the '99-'00 L.A. roster and try to guess which former (or current) Laker really requiresthe moolah.

Maybe Shaq needs help on payments for his new Phoenix pad. Maybe Kobe needs to buy a new pair of Hyperdunks. Maybe Glen Rice needs it for home repairs. Maybe Rick Fox & John Salley needit for acting lessons. Maybe Tyronn Lue & John Celestand need it - period.

 • That the Larry O'Brien Trophy - the hardware that accompanies the NBA Championship - will arrive in Manchester, N.H., today via Southwest Airlines' NBA-themed plane Slam Dunk One, and will be greeted on the tarmac by Celtics legend John Havlicek. The trophy - which will go to either the Celts or the Lakers - will be on City Hall Plaza tomorrow as part of NBA Nation, an interactive, hoop-centric theme park that will be open to fans through the weekend while the green battle Kobe & Co. at the Garden.

The Larry O'Brien NBA Championship Trophy, hand-crafted in sterling silver with a 24 karat gold overlay, was designed and manufactured by Tiffany & Co.
The trophy, comprised of nearly sixteen pounds of sterling silver and vermeil (sterling silver with 24 karat gold overlay) and standing about two feet tall,is etched to resemble a basketball net. A single rod extends from the base to the ball, giving the appearance of a play in motion. The regulation size sterlingsilver and vermeil basketball rests along the rim of the net. The trophy is created each year in the Tiffany & Co. Silver Shop.

The NBA Championship Trophy was created in 1978 for the National Basketball Association and renamed in 1984 in honor of the late former NBA CommissionerLarry O'Brien. Larry O'Brien was commissioner of the league from 1975 to 1984 and was inducted into the Basketball Hall of Fame in May 1991.

The Larry O'Brien NBA Championship Trophy is awarded to the National Basketball Association team who wins the NBA Finals at the conclusion of every basketball season. The current NBA Championship Trophy was created for the 1978 NBA Finals, replacing the previous trophy design (See 1977 NBA Finals tropy presentation).Originally named after Walter A. Brown, it was renamed in 1984 in honor of former NBA commissioner Larry O'Brien.

The trophy is made of approximately sixteen pounds of sterling silver andvermeil (with a 24 karat gold overlay) and stands about two feet tall. It is designed to looklike a basketball about to enter a basketball net. The basketball itself is the same size as a regulation size NBA basketball. The trophy is created each yearin the Tiffany & Co. Silver Shop.

A new Larry O'Brien Trophy is made every year, and the winning team maintains permanent possession of that trophy. The trophy is engraved with the yearand team name, and the trophies are often prominently displayed in the team's arena.
