The College Basketball Post

Of course they aren't. But, we aren't talking about the Fab Five here either. KU starts a Senior, three Juniors and a Sophomore. I just don't understand how, when they face adversity, they automatically quit doing what got them a ten point lead in the first half. KU doesn't have a go-to guy, and that's okay, as long as the players know that. '08 didn't have a go-to guy either. But, when you face adversity they need to continue to play to their strengths (ball movement, playing as a team, etc.) ...but, instead, everyone tries to do their own thing and that ten point lead that turned into a four point deficit suddenly is an 11 point deficit.

Agreed 100% ...it has been the same way for the past few years. KU now has losing streaks in...
+ Morgantown -- 3 in a row.
+ Stillwater -- 3 in a row.
+ Manhattan -- 2 in a row.
+ Ames -- 2 in a row.
(Probably going to lose in Norman this year, which would be two in a row)

I saw a stat that said KU has lost 11 straight road games not played in the state of Texas.

:{ @ that stat...smh...

I thought about this a lot last night and you posting that stat kind of reaffirms my suspicion. Coming into this year we talked about depth and our experience as being our strengths. Diallo's case certainly set him back and Self is notorious for playing his trusted, veteran guys. Depth right now is non existent. Experience...true we do start a senior, three juniors and sophomore but out of those four guys only Perry has made it out of the first weekend of the tourney and all of those guys are the reason we currently have most of those streaks against us on the road. You can say we have experience but we really only have experience winning at home - not on the road our at neutral sites in March.
Team isn't buying into Self's concepts and they are mostly upperclassmen who he won't sit. If I was Diallo, Greene or Svi I would be beside myself right now wondering why I am not getting playing time and if I'm a top 10 recruit I'm certainly rethinking my interest in KU. I truly believe that Self has lost his way and his teams ever since 2012 and this year is trending, again much the same way.

Regarding the experience -- I do agree. No experience winning on the road nor is there experience winning in March. I mean, Perry Ellis only has 4 NCAAT victories in his career.

Regarding the team not buying in -- maybe that's one way to put it, I think it's more so the "experienced" guys want to be the go-to guy...but they don't realize KU doesn't have a guy that is a go-to guy. For instance, Self mentioned during his presser last night that he called a play for the team to run in the 2nd half, but when the team went to run it, they had one pass and Selden launched a 3. So, it could be one of those things where Self is saying "go ahead, try and do it your way, it's not going to work" ...trying to give them a wakeup call.

Regarding PT -- I think Svi and Diallo should understand why they aren't playing. Selden and Greene are simply better than Svi, Diallo can't be trusted (although, I think Iowa State is the perfect match-up for him)

Regarding recruiting -- Maybe I'm naive, but I think KU recruiting is fine. They have EXTREMELY high expectations.

Very interested in seeing how Ed Sumner matches up with Chris Dunn tonight. Obviously Dunn is the better player now but both of them have another gear athletically that not many college point guard have.

Givn how silly the concept of college sports is in general do college basketball fans really care about whos getting paid and who isn't?

other than ammunition to make fun of your rivals do fans really think or care if their program is clean?

Buddy going #1 :hat

Nah they went cold at the end. Dunn and Bentil are ballers man. They got a squad.

Not that it matters now but I was checking out the bracketology and this year I feel like it's more wide open than ever before.

It's crazy.

Friars can't win at home is okay for me. They need to limit their 3s and drive. Only let Fazekas shoot. And at least another guy who can contribute 12 pets.

X is a hell of a team with length and shooters in bluiett sumner and Davis. Dat Macura kid is a flop and. A half and that 3 to put em up by 6...

People gonna be salty when the NCAA Final is Wichita vs. an Atlantic Sun team

In no year before will seeds matter less, going to be very little difference between two-seeds and ten-seeds this year.
