Flizzo . "I'm a fry ya'll up" will never lead to anyting.

Mel saying she's into gangbang porn now is something. A bit to unpack there.
She just said that for a moment. She literally ain’t say nothing the whole episode lol

Adam getting checked again.

I don't know why ol boy was was kinda walking it back. Yes, because you're white, got into hip hop at 32 you don't know what you're talking about. Your opinion don't matter. We need to start calling this stuff out and being bold with it. It's too many people that think cuz they know some slang and what's popular on IG they know hip hop.

did he get checked tho?

both are making low quality arguments…and worse neither was listening; each is trying to minimize the other’s experience instead highlighting what that experience meant or even put things into an understandable perspective. they just were talking past one another, not sure what being ‘born into hip-hop’ means or how it necessarily would be relevant nor is it apparent being a fan that got involved @ 32 (even if that were literally true) necessarily invalidates having an opinion that might supersede/be just as valid; especially as hip-hop has become so ubiquitously consumed beyond those that actually produce it

being of the culture definitely can come with a more nuanced understanding that someone who is coming from a place of affinity/appreciation might not deep, whether that nuanced understanding is always relevant is circumstantial…and vice versa

to say adam doesn’t know what he is talking about and/or his opinion doesn’t matter is disingenuous, folk may not agree w/his opinion/perspective but you wouldn’t even be making the point of needing to call it out were that really the case…

this idea that these guys like akademiks, adam, vlad, etc. don’t have some idea of what they are talking about at this point is nonsense, which isn’t saying they aren’t ever wrong, have wild hot takes, or don’t each have their own biases/blindspots

You think Harvard or an Ivy League school is gone let a black person walk into their University, and speak on the inner workings of it and the history?

Those guys absolutely don’t know what they’re talking about. Again, imagine a person going to North Korea, Russia or going to Italy and trying to speak on the fashion industry and history with absolutely no knowledge of anything. It’s the same.

You can’t speak on something you don’t know about. And trying to will make you look even more foolish

That’s the point he was making to Adam. EVERY culture, every race has particular customs that they’re known for.

He’s basically telling Adam that hip-hop is a black custom and that he’ll forever just be a spectator and visitor. And that’s OK

He literally didn't know what the **** he was talking about

He was pushing that Cole is more successful. Kendrick has sold more, more accomplished and has more critically acclaimed albums than Cole, more successful tours. He thought "Big 3" meant who's more famous. Vlad and Ak have both been exposed over and over for their lack of knowledge and just being outta touch. That's just a fact.

If you hold their opinions in high regard, you can.

The whole time this is what I was thinking. Adam feel so bold to him who listens to what and who's more "successful" because they let him get this pass. At one point he said "let's Adin Ross live stream"

What real hip hop head goes to Adin Ross to know what's poppin?? 🤣

They let these outsiders get too comfortable.

People try and clown Meek, J.Cole, Wale, guys who ACTUALLY do hip hop at a very high level and have tracks upon tracks of classic songs. Have created trends….

Then talk about dudes who look like THIS? Dawg, this timeline is BAFFLING.

Being “cool” can’t be factually proven and is discretionary (we are all lame in the eyes of someone”

But LOOK AT HIM. LOOK AT ADAM

It’s embarrassing that Adam, someone who is 40+ even mentioned this 20 something year old dude.

I feel embarrassed for them dudes every time they sit across from Adam.

Dudes like Paul Newman, Sean Connery, Cary Grant, Errol Flynn and Clint Eastwood, River Phoenix were defined as “cool” white boys back in the days.

Look at today’s landscape of what American tabloids consider cool. Pete Davidson? Adin Ross?

All it tells me is that I’ve gotten older, and it’s OK to be older and out of touch in certain areas. I am not their audience

so are you saying it is not possible to be a ‘spectator & visitor’ & have a reasonable/valid opinion? of course there will very likely be things this person would not be privy to due to that status but they still could form an opinion that has merit, no?

ahhh, is that what sparked the argument? you probably have seen this vid making the rounds where a bunch of athletes & were asked who would they rather listen to from ‘the big 3’ kendrick was the consensus last place, even as most acknowledged he probably was the best ‘artist’ of the three…i don’t think this is that much of an outlier take and how might the idea that even tho kdot is the most critically acclaimed his music might be the least enjoyable/have the least replay value of the 3 factor in to the popular perception?

i am not making any of these guys arbiters of some absolute truth(s) when it comes to their opinions, but if you’re saying that they can’t/don’t have valid opinions because they were not ‘born into hip-hop’ that is very myopic & limits any discourse that can be had

Who cares who they prefer to listen to? Everyone has a PREFERENCE. Stop being a follower

Them not listening to Kendrick doesn’t mean MILLIONS of other fans don’t prefer him.

Stop valuing peoples opinions man. You’re an adult. He came in last amongst a couple athletes…. Who cares?? People have different musical pallets

How can somebody that don't relate to something, don't understand certain things, a outsider thats proven they don't know what they're talking about. How can they have a valid opinion?

They can speak obvious ****. What's poppin on tik tok, the charts but when we really start talking some real hip hop **** no their opinions ain't respected.
