just peeped that.

A. Indians wont even make the playoffs
B. The Yankees will not finish in 2nd place, nor will the Sox finish in 2nd. Rays # 2, Yankees # 1

yeah i find it a bit hard to believe. shouldn't the yanks be easy 100+ win favorites

IDK about 100 wins considering you have a lot of injury-prone players such as Burnett, Petitte, Posada, Matsui, Damon, etc

I wonder how they will work things out with the DH cause you know Posada won't start 120+ games at the catching position so he will have to DH at timeswith Molina as your catcher. And if you DH with Matsui (which will prob be the norm) that means Damon will have to play center

i feel like they have enough talent to deal with some injuries. now if the like all the guys you mentioned are riding the DL, then yeah they mayhave an issue. but straight up, i think you have to project them for 100 or so wins.

all i know is this...the pitching matchups in the red sox yankee games are gonna be

You are a writer now with your own website, time to leave the blinders behind.

It is possible, that the Yanks will finish anywhere from 1st to 3rd. It is also possible that they will miss the playoffs once again. The AL East will betough, any of those teams (Rays, Sox, Yanks) could finish 1-3. My prediction, Rays, Sox and Yanks, in that order.

That AL East is mean!
Should be easy pickings for the Cubs... should be. SMH at me even being excited for the season to start. Oh well, gotta have something to do all summer, right?

Chris Davis, Rangers 1B/3B - Round 5, Pick 4. The Noise may have Stretch Armstronged this pick (68.1 ADP per Mock Draft Central), but, in a league of experts, the odds of Davis falling into the late sixth are minute. The Rangers powerhouse is not a player, he just crushes…a lot. The youngster's enormous 35-40 HR upside and potential .280-plus BA are very desirable, especially given his dual eligibility. (BE)

Would anybody be interested in playing in a fantasy baseball league that;

-where you have to play LF, RF, CF not three random outfield spots.
eyes.gif

-Where Defense matters (putouts, assists, errors)
pimp.gif

- Stolen Base percentage matters rather than just the amount of bases player x steals
ohwell.gif

-OBP, SLG and OPS are all counted stats
-Strikeouts DON'T count against you
- Ks per 9, BB per 9, and Strikeout to walk ratio is counted (Cliff Lee

)

Basically the mans fantasy....I've grown weary of the quality of play in the open NT leagues I have joined casual Baseball heads need not apply I want realdude who know their %%!* and like to compete. So please hit me up if you want to join.

Abreu to the Angels. 1 year, $5 million + incentives. What a steal

According to SI.com's Jon Heyman, the Angels and Bobby Abreu reached an agreement on a one-year deal worth a little more than $5MM plus incentives.

Abreu, 35 in March, hit .296/.371/.471 in 684 plate appearances for the Yankees last year while playing poor defense. He earned $16MM in '08. Many questioned Brian Cashman's decision not to offer arbitration to Abreu, a Type A free agent. The decision was wise, as Abreu ended up taking a 69% pay cut in base salary. At the beginning of the offseason, most people expected him to get multiple years and at least $10MM per. Abreu's agent Peter Greenberg remarked to Larry Stone on January 30th:

"He might take a one-year deal so that he can - in his words - win the MVP and go out on the market again. He's definitely motivated. Not that he's not usually, but he has extra motivation."

In Abreu, the Angels add some much-needed OBP to a team that ranked 11th in the AL last year in the crucial stat.

I'm going to miss Abreu. It's a very good signing no matter how crowed their outfield is.

Anybody know how to get MLBtv or the audio/video for games streamed online? I'm gonna go nuts this summer otherwise.

Great sign by the Angels..

My god though!! The Angels have Hunter, Guerrero, Matthews and NOW Abreu!?

I don't see anyone in that division winning 100 games. I'm going through KLJ's standings and I see those 3 RA I started cracking up

I'm down for the fantasy baseball as well.

Cardinals release second baseman Adam Kennedy

ST. LOUIS - The St. Louis Cardinals released Adam Kennedy on Monday, leaving the second base job up for grabs with just a week to go before spring training.

The team requested waivers on Kennedy that will expire Wednesday, when he'll become an unrestricted free agent. Kennedy is due to make $4 million next season, the last year of a three-year contract. His new club would only have to pay him the $400,000 minimum while the Cardinals would be responsible for the rest.

Several players from within the organization will compete for the starting job at second base, including Skip Schumaker, who has spent his entire professional career as an outfielder.

The 33-year-old Kennedy came up with St. Louis in 1999 before being traded to Anaheim, where he was part of the 2002 World Series championship squad. He is a career .276 hitter in 10 seasons.

The Cardinals signed Kennedy as a free agent before the 2007 season and he hit. just .219. He improved to .280 last season but never seemed to mesh with manager Tony La Russa.

FIND MORE STORIES IN: Florida | Arizona | Chicago Cubs | St. Louis Cardinals | Anaheim | Tony La Russa | MLB World Series | Aaron Miles | Felipe Lopez | Chris Duncan | Rick Ankiel | Adam Kennedy | Ryan Ludwick | Triple-A Memphis | Skip Schumaker | John Mozeliak | Brendan Ryan | Colby Rasmus | Brian Barden | Joe Thurston | Double-A Springfield | Brian Bartow | Tyler Greene

When St. Louis acquired Felipe Lopez in August, Kennedy requested a trade. Lopez played 23 games at second base down the stretch.

"We have exhausted all trade possibilities for Adam, and have decided that it was within both the club and the player's best interests to give Adam his unconditional release," general manager John Mozeliak said in a written statement. "As we move forward, we feel that it is best to try and fill the second base position with other players from within our organization."

That's a bit of a risk as St. Louis tries to get back to the postseason for the first time since winning the 2006 World Series. The Cardinals did not re-sign Lopez, who instead signed with Arizona in December. Aaron Miles, the versatile backup infielder who hit .317 last season, signed a two-year contract with the Cubs.

Schumaker hit .302 in 540 at-bats last season, splitting time at all three outfield positions, and would be a good fit as a leadoff hitter. But he could be the odd man out of a crowded outfield.

The Cardinals have Rick Ankiel and Ryan Ludwick locked in for the outfield, along with Chris Duncan. And prospect Colby Rasmus could be ready this season. So La Russa has been open to seeing if Schumaker could handle second base.

Cardinals spokesman Brian Bartow said Schumaker is already in Florida working out in the infield. He said the team had no immediate plans to trade for a second baseman.

"Right now, going into camp, they're going to give people within the organization the chance to show what they can do," Bartow said.

The only returning Cardinals player with second base experience on the major league level is Brendan Ryan, who has played 40 games there during his two-year career. In 377 career at-bats he has hit .265 with four home runs.

Other candidates include minor leaguers Brian Barden, Joe Thurston, Jarrett Hoffmpauir and Tyler Greene. Greene, 25, was a first-round draft pick (30th overall) in 2005. Normally a shortstop, he hit .254 with 16 homers splitting time between Double-A Springfield and Triple-A Memphis last season.
Nationals, Adam Dunn Reach Agreement
By Tim Dierkes [February 11 at 1:40pm CST]

According to Chico Harlan of the Washington Post, the Nationals agreed to a preliminary two-year deal with Adam Dunn. Nationals GM Jim Bowden drafted Dunn when he helmed the Reds back in1998. It seems likely that Dunn will play first base for the Nationals. The 29 year-old hit .236/.386/.513 with 40 home runs in 651 plate appearances for theReds and Diamondbacks in '08.

With Dunn and Abreu off the market, the Braves' only option for an outfield addition is probably to make a trade.
