General manager Jon Daniels confirmed a New York Post report that says the Rangers will announce this week that they have signed free-agent center fielder Andruw Jones to a minor-league contract. The value of the contract would be $500,000 if Jones makes the big-league roster with incentives that could play Jones $1 million if he plays regularly. Jones can opt out of his contract with the Rangers on March 20.

A deal with reliever Brendan Donnelly should be completed in the next few days, Daniels said. Donnelly, who had Tommy John surgery in 2007, would make $950,000 if he makes the team and has two dates (March 27 and April 27) he can ask for his release if not on the big-league roster.

Jason Jennings, who agreed to terms late Thursday, would make $800,000 plus incentives.

i cant stop laughingabout this andruw jones character..

what a wash.

ANDRUW JONES = FAIL

I think it's pretty obvious where his head is... He wants to rebuild value and make $$$ ...

Granted, he'd probably have an easier time cracking the Yank's every day lineup (simply because unless he blows people away in ST and continues to doso throughout the season, the Rangers have younger guys they need to commit at-bats to so they can evaluate what they've got going forward), but ifyou're a power-hitter looking to rebuild your reputation, what better place than Arlington with Rudy Jaramillo?

And there's the perception of Texas being a launching pad, though if you look at BP's 3-year park factors it plays more neutral than perception wouldlead you to believe...

And, the guy could barely tolerate the negative attention he was drawing in Los Angeles... How do you think he'd have handled New York the first timethings went bad and fans started going at him? And he's been pretty open about being a warm-weather climate guy...

There's still a lot of quality FAs out there..

Where's Joe Crede going to end up?

San Francisco made an offer and you still hear about the Twins sniffing around him a lot...

But then a report came out that he still wanted $7M for a one-year "make good" deal, and you've gotta wonder if he's gonna make anything nearthat much...

I don't know if it's been posted, but Ryan Horward signed a 3 year, I think 56 million dollar deal with the Phils to avoid salary art.

Anyone use MLB.tv PREMIUM last year???

I'm thinking about getting it.... was wondering how good the quality was last year.

Not sure if this year's Premium is going to be different then last year's but this year's is in HD.

C. Trent Rosecrans of 1530 Homer spoke to Ken Griffey Jr.'s agent Brian Goldberg today. Goldberg expects Griffey to have a deal this time next week. He added that two teams are more serious than the others.

The Rays contacted Goldberg early in the offseason, but were upfront that they preferred to sign a younger player. The Pat Burrell signing took them out of the running.

I wonder where...Seattle?

PECOTA projects the standings. The projection system's playoff teams are the Red Sox, Yankees, Indians, A's, Mets, Cubs, and Diamondbacks (plus a one-game Braves-Phillies playoff).

Welcome! All Depth Charts are available to Baseball Prospectus Premium and Fantasy subscribers. If you aren't a subscriber, the Tampa Bay Rays and Philadelphia Phillies depth charts are free for your perusal.
How To Use The Depth Charts
The Depth Charts are playing time-weighted projections for each player which then build up to a team projection. The result of this team projection is in the upper-left corner of each teams depth chart. Here youll find the teams projected record, runs scored, runs allowed, and triple-slash stats (AVG/OBP/SLG).

In both the position player and pitcher sections, boldfacing indicates a starting player at a position--someone who is getting at least 50% of the team's playing time at a single position for Position Players, or a projected rotation member or closer for Pitchers.

When reading the statistics, only PA and IP are broken out for each individual entry. All other batting and pitching statistics are rolled up for the entire year. For example, a bench player could have playing time at different positions - e.g. a fourth outfielder is slated to get 130 PA in LF and 170 PA in RF. For all other statistics besides PT% and PA, the numbers next to each entry in LF and RF will be his aggregate statistics for the 300 PA. This works similarly for pitchers who both start and relieve.

The Order column is the spot in the lineup where the position player is expected to hit.
