The MMA Thread: DON'T ASK 4 STREAMS & NO GIFS- Cannonier, Imavov, Reyes, Rosas on NOW

I would bet my last dollar that Conor's first fight back from his lay off will be against Nate.

Nate Diaz not answering calls for less than 20 Million Dollars from the UFC. According to Ariel

:lol Nice

Yeah if I'm Nate I try to wait it out as long as possible on that third Conor fight. Could easily backfire on him if Conor chooses someone else, but fighting young hungry contenders for lower pay vs. fighting the 155 champ who you beat and then lost a super close decision to, for probably another huge payday? He's probably gonna take his chances and wait for the time being.

I mean Conor blessed him with more money in one year than he made in his entire lifetime

True, and Nate blessed Conor with that L so he could humble himself and step his game up appropriately. Win-win that those guys crossed paths

*Majority Decision, one judge had it as a draw.

Funnily enough, Ariel's article incorrectly states that Nate lost a unanimous decision to McGregor in the rematch.

Damn. nate asking for 20 million fight paydays now? That's like how much nfl teams franchise players for for a whole season.

Nate smartened up. He actually tried to hold out for more money before and it backfired on him.. Conor coming on the scene really allowed for everyone to get paid, and Nate helped Conor too no doubt

They probably won't give Nate 20 but hell, if they meet somewhere around 10-12 mill, Nate will have won. Gotta shoot for the stars in these things...

But if Nate doesn't get the Conor fight I don't see him getting more than say 5-8 mil if he did fight a khabib or aldo.

This whole mess up in the 145 and 155 division that the UFC is dealing with is what they get for letting one person hold two belts.

They should have formally agreed that Conor would vacate the 145 belt IF he did in fact win the 155 belt.

They created a star and now they have a mess to clean up.

It's not really that messed up though

They stripped conor of the 45 belt... so that division is fine now

As far as 55 it's not really that crazy either. Conor in my estimation would fight soon if the new ownership would get its head out of its *** and meet with these fighters. They're really pretty secretive it seems

Until then having khabib and tony fight wouldn't be so bad since it's the fight they've been trying to make for a while now.. but... Dana probably lowballing them which is preventing the match

It's not really that messy

So, you strip Conor and promote Aldo to 145 Champion and then offer Aldo a shot at the 155 interim belt?

LMAO.

That was mostly Aldo's wishes most likely, being that max is hurt . He wants that Conor rematch too

At least Aldo said he was ready to fight and defend the 45 belt

I've always said that even if Aldo moves up to 55 Conor still ain't gonna fight him

Oh, for sure and respect to Aldo for wanting to fight Khabib because that's a bad man but this situation is just hilarious to me.

As long as great fighters are fighting great fighters I can't even be mad

They've done that for the most part or have tried (injuries have prevented a ton of great matches)

I've criticized the UFC for certain choices but overall they're doing the right thing with stripping Conor.. can't complain about much else outside of pay

The thing about the FW division is outside of Max who is left for Aldo to fight? He's already beat Frankie 2x, Cub years ago (though coming off his last win of Choi they could try to hype a 2nd fight), Pettis fight has lost significant steam after him missing weight and not knowing if he has a future at FW, then guys like Stephens, Oliveira and Bermudez are more so fringe top 10 and not serious contenders.

So I don't blame him at all for wanting to move up to LW.

I would like to see Aldo fight Max just because they're both great fighters and the planets have lined up for it.

But if Aldo fights Max, wins, then vacates the division, the division is legit decimated in his wake :lol

Yea. But Choi is coming off a loss so his momentum is slowed a bit.

Ortega injured right now and still needs to develop.

I know guys will come up but would seem empty for a bit.

What's good with Barao? If Aldo is going to move up they should be lining some more FW fights up for him.

Barao/Edgar? Cub?

Yea Barao's stock has taken a hit last few years especially after the Stephens loss. TJ took his soul.
