The most valuable trading cards Vol. FML

I don't believe that half of this thread had 1st edition charizard holos.

Besides, only 30 have been PSA gem status, AKA worth 2k.

I had a grip of holos saved in a shoe box, then I went to the mall to try and sell all my cards and found out the truth.


Unless you open the box of booster packs, then open the individual booster pack and pull the card in front of the guy, you aren't getting a good grade.

If you put your cards in sleeves= 1/2 to 1/4 price, maybe less.


My best card ended up being a Dragonite PSA 8, worth $3.00.



I saw this and was hyped just thinking about it.

This, if this many people have the card I find it hard to be that valuable, never got into Pokeman or any of those card games tho...
 
i remember my friend swiped some guys black lotus back in the day and tried to sell it to me, smh, lol

anyone want some penny cards, i got a bunch.
have a bunch of mj but missing that fleer rookie.

still remember when the griffey, mcgwire, sosas would go for a bunch. gotta check ebay to see if i can sell for a good price.


do they even still have card shops around?  they have sports memorabilia but any card shops where they put the cards in a glass and the owner wont let you touch it

It was just as Pokemon was getting big and it was actually hard to find packs of them around my way. But I ended up calling some random store like KB Toys or something and they had packs but only the Japanese ones, said fug it and got a few packs, ended up with a Charizard and I knew he was a beast but I really wanted some English cards so my !#%%@%@ decided to trade it to one of my 'buddies' for a grip of English cards, thought I came up until one of my real homies told me how rare that card was and when I went to get it back from him the next day he said he lost it

My friends and I used to go to Toy's R Us on Saturday to play in the Pokemon League they had.
They taught you how to play with the cards and gave you a small book to track your wins and losses and they gave you badges after a certain amount of wins like the ones on the show.

After you get badges they give you some promo cards you could only get at the league.

Same thing happened in the thread about stadium events for NES..The game came out in 1987, and only sold an estimated 200 copies before it was recalled, yet 3/4 of the people posted had it lol.Thread was last year, so it came out 24 years before the thread. The average NTer is probably 24, so apparently they all got it for Christmas while they were a new born lol...
 
Can someone clarify the difference between the thin and thick lettered font of the HP on Pokemon cards? I always assumed thin ones were fake.
 
had me diggin for my old school pokeman cards after reading this thread..

after an hour of searching i found them. then seeing my charizard wasnt a 1st edition..

this a kid that went to my hs had one worth like 2k when we were in jr high.

I had that hologram first ed Charizard too... pulld it from my 2nd ever pack... no one believed me

this was when the card was worth around 100 bucks... 2 stacks huh... lemme dig under my bed for a minute
 
Biggest waste of money I ever spent. By the way, yours would have to be in 9.5+/10 condition to command anything near those prices.
