The NBA Draft Thread

You miss the point. Why take Russell when you have a starter in Collison? Period.

Meanwhile, you have an old injury prone guy in Casspi that Divac wouldn't hesitate one bit in replacing with Ingram.

As far as C-Webb "leading" the Bullets to the playoffs....if you consider "playoff success" as the #8 seed in the weak East that got swept by the Bulls in the first round to be such a great accomplishment, then so be it. All I can say is that if the Bullets felt so great about C-Webb, then C-Webb would've stayed in Washington instead being dealt to Sacramento. He wanted out of Washington, he wore out his welcome in D.C. just like Cousins is slowly wearing out his welcome in Sactown (if he hasn't already done so).
You make it painfully obvious you don't know what you're talking about the more you post.

No world exists where an NBA team doesn't have interest in a potential franchise 6'5 point for Darren freaking Collison.

C-Webb was fresh off a rape accusation and an arrest for drug possession and that's why he was traded. He didn't want out. He was mad when that trade happened.

I meant Washington wanted him out and dealt him to Sac, so that was my bad on the typo.

Sacramento did not want to make that trade, bottom line. Vlade made it clear, Cousins in 2015 was untouchable in spite of the trade talk. Even if the Lakers drafted Okafor, Sac still would've declined. Russell was not even projected to go as high as #2, therefore the Kings would not have had any interest whatsoever. Don't tell me that you knew that the Lakers were going to draft Russell, you and everyone's grandmothers had the Lakers taking Okafor and some mock drafts even had the Lakers considering Mudiay and Porzingis before Russell.

Show me an article from 2015 that stated Russell was a "potential franchise" point guard. I urge you to prove yourself right by your claims that in the summer of 2015, scouts were considering him a "franchise PG."

The fact that he went #2 in what was considered a top heavy draft isn't proof enough that someone considered him a franchise PG? He was a consensus top 3 pick before the lottery was even determined.

Scouts were definitely viewing Russell as a franchise point guard. I wanted him badly on the Sixers at the time of the draft before the Lakers took him and we were forced to just go best available with Okafor.

Again, you miss the point - the Kings obviously had no interest in Russell, because there wasn't enough there for the Kings to salivate over.

If the Lakers had the #1 pick last year, you think the Kings would've traded Cousins if the Lakers offered Randle AND Towns, knowing that they could possibly pair WCS and Towns in the same frontcourt? Much different ballgame bruh.

Like I said, show me one article or one statement from an NBA executive that stated Russell was a "FRANCHISE PLAYER." There are none because you won't fine none.

Meanwhile, there are plenty who said in 2015 that Towns was far and away a major piece to build around, hence franchise player.

And maybe I missed something here but just because the Lakers picked Russell at #2, doesn't mean he's a franchise PG. I've never heard those words come out of Kupchak's mouth, or any other Lakers front office executive.

In fact, Kobe even said Russell is not a franchise player. Google it.

Please submit proof, articles, links, etc.

Nobody said a 19-year old PG from Ohio State was a franchise piece to build around

Bruh your trolling sucks.

Everyone and their mamas were projecting DLo to land top 3 and be a franchise pg for years to come.

Go take a breather and come back with better troll attempts tomorrow

hahaha...so you're telling me Kobe is wrong when he says he thinks D'Lo ain't a franchise player? Are you telling me you know better than Kobe? Did Kobe jump for joy and scream in excitement last summer when he found out the Lakers drafted Russell? Did Kobe say, "I'm really looking forward to play with this kid" like he did when the Lakers acquired franchise player Pau Gasol in 2007? lol

I'll be back tomorrow ESPECIALLY if the Lakers end up doing what they need to do. And if they keep Ingram and instead trade Russell, then does that mean Russell is still a franchise player?

Stranger things have happened in El Segundo...stay tuned.

From ESPN...

"With the Lakers' draft board coming into focus, sources held out a potential scenario in which Ingram didn't go No. 2 -- a last-minute blockbuster trade offer from a team offering a young but experienced All-Star in return.

The Lakers don't want to trade the pick and are bullish on Ingram. However, they would likely consider any chance to get a proven young All-Star now, according to sources. The team plans to be very aggressive in free agency in July, and a young All-Star-caliber veteran could help them lure other elite free agents."

A sign of things to come or just plain talk?

"My dad [John Selden] is from is Philly," the Providence point guard said Wednesday. "He would definitely love that. They're a young team, and I'm willing to go there and work."
The Sixers were focused on acquiring the third overall pick from the Boston Celtics, knowing that's their best option to ensure they'll get Dunn, a league source said.

Boston, which was shopping the pick, believed as of Wednesday that the Sixers' asking price for Okafor or Noel - the third pick plus more assets - was too high.
"I couldn't wait to be part of something like that," he said. "I would be a part of helping change the orchestration of an organization that's trying to rebuild."

Dunn believes in a few seasons the Sixers will be "really, really" good. He said folks will remember when they turned things around.

"In a few years, we are all going to look back at the Sixers and think, 'What happened?' " he said. "They are all going to be so good."

Heard through the grapevine that the ONLY way Kevin Durant comes to LA is if Lakers draft Ingram and trade him in a package to include another future draft pick plus Randle and Young to Sactown for Boogie Cousins and a throw-in (Seth Curry?)

With Cousins, Russell, Clarkson, Nance and Durant as your starters, the Lakers suddenly become a legitimate playoff contender.

Plus the Lakers would still have a little bit of money left over to sign another impact veteran or mid-level role player such as Ezeli, Barnes, Ryan Anderson, Luol Deng, Rajon Rondo, etc.

There are reports on ESPN stating that the Lakers are expected to take Ingram with the second pick, "barring an unexpected blockbuster trade."

Nobody is reporting that the Lakers are in talks with Sacramento. And the way the Lakers usually do it is to keep things on the hush. Stay tuned.

PG: Russell
SG: Clarkson
SF: Durant
PF: Nance Jr
C:  Cousins

Bench:  Lou Williams, Tarik Black, Seth Curry, Marcelo Huertas, Anthony Brown, plus Free Agent PF or Big

:lol

Lolzzz. They'll eventually swing a deal when it sets in that they both have no other options.

So are you guys going to watch the ESPN telecast or The Vertical show during the draft? Woj is going to make ESPN look like they're on tape delay. :lol

Woj will spill the first 10 picks before the show starts :{

I like surprises so I'll be watching it on ESPN and be in here hoping we don't spill picks

Hitting up the bar right after work
