The NBA Draft Thread

Ben has show he is exactly who he thought he was.

All time level passer.
really good degender when engaged.

but the shooting puts a hard limit on his potential.

not a superstar unless he gets a jumper.

Sagging off Simmons is backfiring. It allows him to scan the floor and space to accelerate and attack. He's a machine in the open floor.

I was real critical of his play at LSU. Didn't think he was aggressive enough. He deferred too much. That team was so dysfunctional that it wasn't fun to watch their games.

All in all, I think I'm a believer. Should thrive in the NBA.

Simmons' playmaking ability is already elite.

Definitely agree he needs to be the primary ball handler in Philly.

I'm cool with him being in the Draymond Green role for now. He gets plenty of ball handling opportunities and pushes it off rebounds but he's not the MAIN ball handler. Let him grow into that role. Still want to see him screening on the ball, spotting up, cutting - learning to impact the game when he's not PG.

Two games into Summer League, he isn't going to show you a jumper all of a sudden. It's already a given he'll need seasons to get that jumper where it needs to be

He probably should of had like 12 assists tonight..

You know how people describe shooting motions or throwing motions to be fluid and a thing of beauty? The same applies to Simmons' passing. The ball glides out of his hands putting just the right touch on it.

I'm buying a jersey day 1 idc

If there's one thing I've learned about attending Summer League for years, it's to not pay attention to ANYTHING in regards to scoring/shooting. However, the passing he's doing is NOT something you ever see.

That first one was just ridiculous the dribble and spin around the guy plus going between two other defenders and threading the **** out of the needle. Looked even crazier in the replay I saw from a different angle.

He was pissing me off a little passing up easy shots though.

I wish Ben develops a jumper in his first season. Also gotta improve his ft %. Like everyone said his court vision and passing ability are already great but there's work to be done. Im kinda worried of him being a point forward like yall said cause watching his first two games in SL he dribbles dribbles, passes to the big man in the paint and hangs around the free point line. Doing that he cant rebound and whats the point in standing out there when he cant shoot?
Its dangerous in todays game to not have a jumper. Also theres no way hes gonna average 15 & 10 his first season. We gotta tone down our expectations. I see him averaging 11, 6 & 5 his rookie season

11, 6 and 5? He's getting that right now when he's playing like 18 minutes and having guys on the floor chuck up terrible shots cause they're trying to make the team. He'll probably be playing close to double the amount of minutes and be playing with actual smart players who can knock down open shots and give him the damn ball as the primary ball handler.

Simmons vs Ingram Saturday at 8:30PM on ESPN2 :hat

We'll see when the season starts bruh. You can screencap my post if you want. I might've been even too generous but I'll stand by my projection

I mean he's like 4/17 hows it back firing? :lol

Simmons has to be the fastest, quickest, best ball handling & passing 4 ive seen in a LONG time. If dude could actually shoot & didnt have such a low set shot form then i think he coulda played the 3 :/

14-8-6 is sure as hell not best case scenario....that's probably just right around what he gets. He's getting 6 assists easy as hell right now playing like 18 mins per game with crappy players besides Timothe and Holmes. He seriously could easily get close to 10 assists a game if he's gonna be playing probably around 32 mins a game this season as our primary ball handler.

I really want one of our coaches to walk over to him and tell him to shoot the ******* ball though. We need scorers badly.

You gotta chill man.

Look in history at rookies who've gotten those numbers or better.

You getting hyped off summer league as if the competition is anything close to regular season basketball.

Not to mention the scouting report will be out on him early, I know your excited but be realistic.

This is coming from a guy who overrates prospects every year himself. :lol

In his two games he had Lyles guarding him the whole time last night and Jaylen Brown guarding him in the other so let's not act like he's not playing against NBA talent in these Summer League games. He's only going to look better once a coach gets it into his head to ATTACK. Whether it's shooting the open jumper or blowing past his man to the basket he just needs to stay aggressive instead of handing it off to the likes of TJ McConnell and standing around watching him dribble.

eh goes both ways coaches will be running more aggressive switch everything defenses against him, playing off him in more disciplined ways. not helping off shooters when he hasn't beaten the primary defender.

We are seeing the same stuff we saw at LSU, except worse finishing, clearly has to adjust to NBA rim protection.
