The NBA Draft Thread

Haven't paid much attention to the T'Wolves this preseason, but:
@rafael_uehara Kris Dunn has shot 3-for-25 from outside five feet this preseason, prior to tonight's game. 16 assists, 13 turnovers in 91 minutes.
Looks like Rubio's starting spot still safe for now :lol

N Embiid playing back to backs ? Yikes

The idea that Dunn was going to come in a bo guard Rubio spot always seemed ridiculous to me. Rookies almost always suck as general rule, even when they put decent numbers they generally are net negatives.

I'm a big Dunn fan, and I always agreed with this. Rubio isn't a top tier PG, but he's only 25 and just came off the best season of his career. His pass-first mentality also meshes perfectly with the other pieces on their roster. If Dunn was a CP3 level prospect, I may think differently about this, but he isn't.

Ricky isn't trash, you're just not going to win an NBA championship with him at PG.

Wolves have the type of young core that they could be contenders in 3-5 years.

Ricky is a top tier defender at his position. He is literally a jump shot away from being an elite PG...too bad that day may never come.

Ain't coming b, son been pro since he was a pre teen basically and it's his 6th year in the league.

If he had the jumper he would be everything you need.

Also sad that he lost some of his athleticism after the ACL, before that he was one of the most fast twitchy guys out there.

I have a love hate relationship with Rubio because when he first came to league he just showed glimpses of greatness so early that I thought it was a foregone conclusion he was going to be one of the elite guys right now.

At the same time, he's still a very good player coming off his best and healthiest year in a long time.

His contract is great as well.

A jump shot and left hand away
Jumper floater anything. He sucks at the rim too. He's just awful from every spot on the floor. Very weird considering he shoots 80% from the line.

Frustrating player because he can literally do everything else for you at the 1.

Agreed. The love/ hate relationship is felt here as well. Mainly because of how close he is to reaching elite level but never really getting there.

I remember watching him his Rookie year and the guy was electric everytime he was on the floor. The whole tempo of the game would change when he steps on. He lost that after his ACL injury.

What I do find strange is that he lost a lot of his craftiness after the injury. It's probably a mental thing. Maybe a change in scenario will be good for him. Or maybe Thibs will get the best out of him

Just scoring in general. But having a reliable jump shot will open up passing lanes for him making other aspects of his game more effective. More so than being able to score with your left and floaters.
