The Oakland Athletics 2018 Offseason Season Thread | One and Done Again

This is easily the least recognizable A's team I've seen after one year. Can you guys think of another year with this much change?

What do you guys think it would take to land a guy like Zobrist? He is a FA after 2015 and would be a HUGE upgrade.

I know we don't have much leverage with our farm but Billy NEEDS to find a way to upgrade at 2nd and probably a solid starter. The issue is, I don't think a 4th starter is really going to help this team. We would need more of a front line guy and we don't have the pieces to make that happen (Russell better not be going anywhere).

Price (I think he is overrated but I would still take him) and Zobrist to Oakland would be a nice dream....Yes I know it ain't happening. :lol

Look at this guy over here, though. :lol "Russel better not be going anywhere".:(

initially i was meh on the trade

reviewing the entire roster (25 and 40 and rest of minors) with all the movement in the last month, its pretty shrewd
well done billy

Haven't paid much attention this off season but I went to Mariners Fanfest this past weekend and it got me back into baseball mode. Been going through a lot of things personally so baseball can't come soon enough.

I said I wouldn't go to any games next year if we didn't get past the 1st round last year...but of course I renewed my 24 game pack yesterday. :{ :lol This team will have me by my balls forever.

We have new videoboards and ribbon LEDs that stretch across the cement supporting the second deck. That's kind of exciting.

No joke, with the new scoreboards, I don't mind staying at the O.Co for another 10 seasons. *

*If Lew sells the team to someone willing to spend money.

Put your money on the A's staying and building what they want on the Coliseum footprint. That's what I'm doing.

I have no problem with the location or the coliseum really get rid of Mount Davis and add some flashy lights for the casual fan and I'm good. I'll be at the games regardless though so I don't matter to the ownerships pockets

The A's ownership group will tear down the Coliseum and start all over, there's no doubt in my mind about that. If it were the Raiders staying I think they would consider a significant overhaul of the Coliseum but not tear the whole thing down. But I like the A's chances of staying and the Raiders leaving.

I'm not sure to be honest. I know both teams are submitting their competing proposals to Oakland for review so they're now being pitted against each other for the land. The A's have been prepared for this and the Raiders have not.

considering that our team might be in the cellar for the next couple of seasons (who knows???), would I be wrong to think that not many cities will be clamoring to have the A's??

I'm on board with you guys, I think the new stadium on the Coliseum site is the most likely option. After the Warriors move, I fully expect the A's and/or Raiders to get new stadiums at the site. Hopefully I'll be able to enjoy the mythical "Coliseum City" before I'm retired.

Their performance won't matter. Cities that are serious about having a baseball team will bid regardless of how they do. But when push comes to shove few cities can offer what the Bay Area does when it comes to population/wealth/access to public transportation/available land. No one wants to build in the middle of nowhere, and the A's are already in the middle of a large population. You have to convince the ownership group it's in their best interest to leave.

Hope to finally make the drive up to Oakland and watch a game this season.

This is what the new scoreboards should look like.

Dope. But why invest the funds in this if there are (maybe not) hopes of a new stadium?
