The Official 2008 Chicago Bulls Off Season Thread: BG Signs 1 Year Deal; No one cares; BASEBALL FTW

Sorry I didn't update the thread title with the news about the press conference.

I was at school and had to record it on the DVR

My impressions....he's a young kid and seemed kind of nervous

He had a slight deer in headlights look and didn't offer a whole lot of substance to his answers.

He's only 19

ohwell.gif

He is about as soft spoken as you can get. Not a real loud kid and seems to want to please people with his answers. Great kid but I worry about Chicago turningon him if he doesn't improve this team right away and Beastly is in the playoffs and putting up 25 a game. I think it was a no brainer for us to pick Roseand I could see him bring another chip to us Bulls fans.

So your plan is to take our 20 year old number 1 draft pick and throw him to the wolves in his rookie season which might destroy his confidence and set him back?

Baptism by fire, huh?

Gordon an extension??

That dude is the biggest malcontent on this team, next to Tyrus.

He hates coming off the bench and swears to god he is a franchise player.

He turned down an offer he is now almost guaranteed not to get because of his performance last season and you want to give him an extension?

alien.gif

wow.... i actually agree with this laker hater
laugh.gif

who the heck said I hate the Lakers?

alien.gif
im pretty sure whenever something is wrong with the lakers you are one of those dudes in there celebrating and talking about kobe stans no?

No that's me...

My thoughts exactly, I hope the media and the fans don't forget how badly they wanted Rose. I don't want that hindsight bull crap about how Paxsonmade the wrong choice if this season doesn't turn out like we want it to

If Paxson had taken Beasley, he would have been run out of town

We all wanted Rose, we got Rose....now we gotta support Derrick

i agree fully, the team has no veteran leadership and i could see the media turn against him very quick. i think hes going to be very good in time but hesgoing to have his growing pains like any other 19 year old should/would. i do worry about the influence hes going to get from the team. we need someone to takehim under their wing and help him out, this is the time where we need a PJ Brown, Sam Cassel, or Lindsey Hunter.

Can someone explain to me why Paxson keeps saying Rose was the best fit rather than he was the best player in the draft? You can argue that Rose is the best. Its a valid argument. But to say that hit "fit" better than Beasley is simply not true.

I hope Rose has great success with your team, but I just dont understand the better fit argument.

Because you have a plethora of guards and no low post scoring. Pretty simple.

we have a plethora of shooting guards. There is no way you can argue that Kirk Hinrich is better than Derrick Rose

Im not arguing that at all. I am arguing you have a bunch of guards. Whether or not Rose is better than them is not at all what I am talking about. Iwas just talking about fit. You have a plethora of guards period. You have a lot of point guards too. And Hinrich is making too much money for you to justdump.

You have a lot of point guards too
Not really,

Ben Gordon SG
Larry Hughes SG
Thabo Seflosha SG

. And Hinrich is making too much money for you to just dump.
Who said anything about dumping him....yet

if you look at the guys where Beasley would play we're pretty stacked there as well

Gooden
Tyrus
Deng
Andre Nocinoi

Look. I wasnt trying to get into an argument here. But the bottom line is, if you were to ask any NBA analyst what the Bulls biggest problem is, they wouldhave said interior scoring. With that being said, who would be a bigger help to interior scoring? Rose or Beasley? p.s. you are forgetting about Duhon.

because you're clearly in over your head

and I would agree, but we already have a gang of 3's and 4's....heck Tyrus Thomas was a second overall pick with only two season in theleague...Should we just give up on him and give his spot to Michael Beasley???

Rose is going to push the ball up the court and get some of these guys easily looks..look at what Chris Paul did for Tyson Chandler

p.s. you are forgetting about Duhon.
You forgot that Chris is an unrestricted free agent and is already working out for the Knicks

again, homeboy...you're in over your head.

Agreed...I was thinking they should go after Lindsey and Kurt Thomas

Alright Im done. I was just trying to ask a question. I like Rose. I hope he does well. I just dont see the point in drafting him when you already havemoney invested in a young point guard. Have fun thinking you won an argument. You may end up with a great point guard, but you still wont have a big man whocan score.

I just proved why Derrick is a better fit over Beasley

What more do you want???

Our lack of a TRUE point guard that is athletic and make playersaround him better

Beasley is probably going to play the 3 guard in Miami and we got plenty of those

Beasley isnt exactly a big man who can score either. A "big man" to me is 6'10" or taller, and Beasley is what......6'7" and ahalf. Who gives a damn about "best fit" or "best available"....the Bulls drafted Derrick Rose, end of conversation.

I don't think Paxson is just gonna dump Kirk for nothing. If he can get quality for him, then by all means he will, but I don't mind Rose coming offthe bench for awhile. Chris Paul didnt start immediately, i dont believe. Players have to earn their playing time. If BG, Hughes, and Hinrich want playing timethen they will need to practice hard and play well. Simple as that. This won't be a "Rex Grossman is our starter" type of deal. The Bulls have aton of talent at similar positions, but that doesnt mean you just give the talent away. The one guy I would love to get rid of is Larry Hughes because he wantsthe ball in his hands and wants to take 20 shots a game. Unfortunately, with that contract, he isn't going anywhere.

Everyone keeps saying we needed a low post scorer. We have Drew Gooden, he does hover around a double double nightly. Rose will do the same with Ty Thomas asPaul does with Chandler. If the teams reacts well to Vinny and play within themselves, Bulls will be in top three of the east. They made the right pick.Beasley can score soen low but he also plays on the perimeter,

What you call Elton Brand, David West, Boozer, etc.? Little men?

CP3 started from day one
