Losing to the Eagles in Week 15 the way we did, barely beating the Panthers Week 16, and basically taking Week 17 off vs the Deadskins pretty much doomed us before the playoffs started.

It also didn't help that Wade was our head coach, had the players believing they could flip the switch on & off whenever they chose too

Yea man. Lost all that good mo we had going for us. All valid points as to why that season didn't turn out how we thought.

All of you guys talking about the 2007 playoff game and never mentioned the human third down conversion known as Jacques Reeves? Anyone remember we had a drive that ate up damn near 7 minutes off the clock? Marion Barber had over 100 yards rushing in the first half. We go up 14-7. With under a minute left, Eli drives the team 80 yards and they score a TD and its tied up at half time.

To me, that killed ANY momentum we had in that game.

And @ the guy who said Romo is a stat padder/average QB

EDIT: The more I think about it, it seems to happen often that teams are able to graciously drive down the field against us in closing minutes with no problems.

Its quite comical actually. Right after that fumble, the Seahawks drove down the field 50 yards or so and scored a TD no problem. Romo, then drives us down the field and gets us in position to kick that FG period,

There was plenty to mention about that game, we just mentioned a few things that stood out on first thought

I was at the AZ/Dal game in '08 where they blocked the punt in OT and ran it in for a TD. My heart still aches.

Pacman and I THINK Anthony Henry at the time were the corners (T-Newman was out from his typical groin injury) and they were getting straight ABUSED by fitz all day.

So we received 3 seventh round compensatory picks for this years draft. That means we have a total of six 7th round picks. "We own the 7th round."

Also, Cowboys filing a complaint against Ratliff. We're trying to recoup some if not ALL the money Ratliff stole from us last year for faking his injury. It's going to be a tough battle since we terminated his contract but I think there's a chance we get a portion of the money back.

six picks in the 7th round is a good thing actually, this team needs depth basically across the board and if they draft well there they should be able to add some depth

even if they hit on one or two really productive players out of the six picks that will be a big help

I think they will stick to their board that late and get guys they really like but won't have to get into a bidding war after the draft, when the draft ends the UDFA get teams basically into a bidding war whoever pays the most, but some players rather take less money to go to a team where they think they can get more playing time

like Romo, Shannahan and Denver actually offered him more money than Dallas, Romo just saw a better opportunity to play here quicker and he was the #2 like 2-3 years in

all I can ask for with one of those picks is speed, we need a speed demon, whether that be a kick return guy or speed WR or RB, please get me a speed demon with that pick, also get me a RB there, it will be a great spot to grab a decent back

I remember that game. Romo injured his pinky, and I remember what got lost in all that mess was Matt McBriar's season being ended as a result of that blocked punt.

Shortly after, Pacman fought his security guard, and Jerry tried his best in the presser to make it seem like a non issue and quietly stated we weren't going to punish Pacman for his actions. Two days later, its announced he's suspended for 4 games by Goodell

2008 was a very interesting year (obviously not by success).

Don't feel bad. I fell for it to the point where I ordered his jersey. Funny thing was my order didn't go through because at the time, unbenounced to me, someone was using my debit card in Barcelona to buy baby clothes. By the time I got my funds back into my account, we were already an additional 3 games in and I realized he wasn't going to cure anything that was wrong that year.

I think I remember that year so well because it was my last year in college too.

Man, I'm feeling old...

EDIT: That was the year I remember telling everyone to watch out for the Cardinals and all people did was **** on them because they were a 9-7 team going into the playoffs. Back then, the NFC West was super trash. Now it is arguably the best division in football .

Stephen Jones: Cowboys have learned lesson, no longer plan to invest in players over age 30

Much has been made of the Cowboys’ decision to let defensive end DeMarcus Ware and defensive tackle Jason Hatcher go this off season. But it fits into the team’s new overall philosophical change born out of their financial mistakes of the past, vice-president Stephen Jones said.

One of those changes is to no longer invest in players over the age of 30, save for a few exceptions.

Ware was released because the Cowboys didn’t want to pay him $12.5 million in 2014. He will be 32 next year and is coming off a career-low six sacks because of injuries.

Ware signed a three-year, $30 million contract with the Broncos. Hatcher made no attempt to re-sign Hatcher as a free agent. He got a four-year, $27.5 million deal from the Washington ********. He will be 32 next year as well.

“If we don't learn from what has bitten us then shame on us,” Jones said at the NFL Owner's Meeting in Orlando. “Unfortunately we have been paying guys who over 30 years old a lot of money up front and it hasn't worked for us. I'm not saying that Hatcher won’t work out. I’m not saying that Ware won’t work out. It hasn't worked out for us. So we have to do something different. I hope it all works out for them. But if you look around and look at the numbers…unfortunately it’s a young mans game and there is a lot more risk when you’re signing guys past the 30 mark.”

The biggest problem the Cowboys have had was injuries that rocked the defense the past two years. Jones said the team has taken a harder look at injuries and injury history and will evaluate that in terms of contract decisions going forward.

“There are no excuses,” Jones said. “But you have to evaluate why that has happened to you. You have to take a look at why we have had injuries the past two years in significant numbers especially on the defensive side and say ‘where is it happening, why is it happening and what can we do differently’.’”

“I’m not saying we will never do (pay guys over 30 again),” Jones continued. “There are always exceptions. But when you are coming off of what we have come off of, obviously we have been bit. We will continue to assess. We will assess other teams. We will obviously ***** how Jay Ratliff does in Chicago, how Hatcher does and how Ware does. We are happy for them. We ran into both of them. I’m thrilled they were able to make the money they made.”

Definitely clear they are turning the corner on player management.

Really QB & O-Line are the positions most likely to get good production over 30.

If you look at the roster now:
Romo, 33 is still going strong.
Orton, 31 one of the better backups in the league.
Weeden, 30 I think they want to see how he does, maybe it is to get rid of Orton, so they have a cheaper backup.
Mincey, 30 only 1 year
Free, 30 just had his best season
Witten, 31 Whenever Romo's done, he's done. Part of the reason he stays around is because he and Romo know each other so well and he's reliable
LP Ladouceur, 33 is a long snapper.


Under 30:
Cullts, FB, 29 Who will be rarely used
Bernadeau, 28 decent.
Durant, 28 don't see him as anything more than an OK starter, good backup
Hayden, 28 rotational DT.


Everyone else is 27 or younger.
