We finally found the 60 y/o NikeTalker. Now on to finding Big Foot.

My LPU. Bit the bullet and traded the AJ1 Mocha for these babies plus an additional €150,-

But man. These are beauties. 👌🏻

How'd you find a decent trading partner? I've got Js and SBs that I'd like to trade for air max, but no way of finding someone my size to trade with.

By the way dblplay1212 dblplay1212 I know you've asked before to see my 'collection list' - so here's a PDF with a list of my pairs. For anyone else, yes, I keep a pretty detailed list of the AM1s I own. Nerdy, I know - but there's also an insurance element to it. Feel free to check out this list out if you want to, but I ask you to please not share it or post it anywhere. Cheers.
Jesus ****. What do I have to do to get a pair of Amsterdam in 45.5!

Just curious...do you buy every pair you can get your hands on? Or do you just collect the pairs you like?

Congrats on being the first person ever to attach a pdf on NT

Great collection. Props!

i used to wanted an insanely large sneaker collection but how do you even store that (without spending a fortune on storage or taking up every room in the house) and I like to wear what I own.

If we being honest, those dudes with larger collections rarely enjoy their sneakers anymore. I've tetered the line of large collections with around 200 or so sneakers before and I rarely even knew what I had.

Whenever I talk to people with larger collections they all kinda say the same thing, "I wear roughly 20-30 shoes regularly". Everything else is just kinda stuff.

People are creatures of habit so I think some of us have real addictions while others just buy shoes because it's what we've always done (I been into sneakers since 9th grade, I'm 32 now so I can genuinely say I've been buying sneakers once a month at least for over half my life). I had to sit back one day and ask myself what I was doing it for.

I know that collecting for some has financial benefits as most "cool" sneakers can be resold down the line for a profit but I also know certain collectors never plan to sell. Sneakers is just what they do.

Martian Sunrise LV8s arrived today. Very impressed in hand. Quality is on point and the colour looks better in real life I think. I was worried it would be very orange, but its more red in person.

Not sure, bro... keep looking and they will pop up eventually. The only pair I have in 45.5 is a F&F pair, which, if that's what you're after, is probably going to be a little bit tougher to dig up. But nothing is impossible.

Just curious...do you buy every pair you can get your hands on? Or do you just collect the pairs you like?
lol - I can appreciate underhanded shade tossed as much as the next dude, but I can assure you I obviously only buy pairs I like to have in my collection or pairs I use for projects (ie use parts and such). In fact, if you look at my PDF in the far right column, you'll see that I've denoted quite a few of the pairs I own to be used for such 'projects'.

If we being honest, those dudes with larger collections rarely enjoy their sneakers anymore.
Everybody is different with individual reasons and motivations for collecting. Personally, I can assure you that I in fact 'enjoy' all my AM1s (which doesn't mean I wear them, but that I appreciate them for their place in the lineage of this shoe). I can spend hours and hours just looking at and studying my AM1s. However, besides AM1s, I probably have another couple of hundreds of sneakers for which I certainly don't have this affinity. They're just shoes to me - some getting worn, most just forgotten.

What is the difference with the F&F pairs? Im usually uk11 but can fit uk10.5 in older pairs. I heard the only pairs larger than a certain size were F&F pairs only but not sure if that's true?

It took long enough to find a pair of vios.

Also what do you do for insurance mate? It must be a total nightmare.

Everyone keeps telling me I need to get my collection covered but just cannot see how it works. How do they value pairs when they change value constantly? What happens if you lose a pair that is impossible to replace? What happens when you decide to unds and wear a pair? Do you have to update the broker everytime you acquire new pairs? What happens when the eventual sole crumbling happens?

Just seems a massive minefield of what ifs.

I have my sneakers insured, they just asked me the value at the time. I'd assume that if you have 1000's of sneakers or you give them a high estimated value, the insurance company may look deeper into your claim.

However whatever the headache is to you to have them insured, it's better than not having it insured. Even if you lowball your collection and say it's worth 15,000. It's better to get 15,000 if something happens to your home vs nothing.

Who do you have them insured with? I did research on it a while back and couldn't find anyone will to do it. Well Lloyd's will do it but they have to be in storage and you can't wear them after insuring them, bc like you said, that can change the value. Homeowners will only cover the retail price.

I guess I will ask our broker the question next time im on the phone to them and see what they have to say about it all. I assume getting specialist insurance most likely the only way and im sure that gets pricey, but like you said better than it all disappearing one day.

It's through our Homeowners Insurance (Nationwide). I had it now for over 10 years & now that I think about all this, I've never increased the value of my sneakers w/the insurance. I need to holla at them.

seems fine to me. It could be called "wasteful" but when I think about how much some people spend on alcohol, or going out to dinner/lunch, etc... they spend thousands of dollars doing that stuff over their lifetime. It's being wasted one way or another. I don't know if there's a huge difference in buying a $20k piece of art or $20k worth of AM1s that you look at as art.

Bro...! What a disappointment from ASOS. I finally thought I got a pair for under retail but I received a pair with dirt on the soles, yellowing, smudges on the check, dimples worn out, smudges on the toe box and dirt on the inner sock liner. If the old owner thought this were just “shoes” then he should’ve kept them and keep beating them up instead of returning them. Can’t believe ASOS let this slide through. Already generated a return label.

This may or may not be accurate, current or available based on your state, but most of the big 3 have something called (or similar to) what's called a Personal Articles Policy.

In a nutshell, almost any physically tangible documentable personal property item can be insured for a certain value.
ie. diamond rings, high end golf clubs, collector items and sneakers.

Years ago, I dealt with a fire at a storage unit, holding hundreds of pairs of "heat" (pun).
The individual had PAPs for most of them.
Paid out in excess of 6 figures.

Perhaps there are more specific policies out there.
