The Official NBA Season Thread: Free Agency Day

Wyc definitely doesn’t have crazy money like some of these other owners so I get it. Probably the best possible chance to cash out.

Some big money dude gets a team coming off a chip that is fully equipped to win more with everyone locked up contractually. You just gotta be willing to foot the bill
Payroll gonna be north of $200m next year

Cuban pretty well admitted as much...

Said media companies all over the place are going belly up and/or consolidating like crazy and as a result the league is shifting away from a media rights empire towards a real estate/property (and gambling) business...
+ events year round. Look at the Nets valuation

Yup... Build mega-arenas with adjacent hotel properties and make them destination resorts with basketball half the year and a million other things throughout.

Cuban was very explicit it's a business he didn't know and didn't wanna learn, and specifically chose Adelson/Dumont for that reason.

The Raptors being as awful as they’ve been since Kawhi left should make it obvious why Kawhi left.

He won more series in his one year than the franchise has won since

He left because he wanted to live in LA. Had nothing to do with how the team was post championship. He definitely could’ve won again if he stayed though
The roster was unchanged with just him missing and they were the 2 seed.

The Bucks with peak Giannis were the only team in the league to win more games that season.

Not a big reach at all to see that team with Kawhi coming off a 4 month layoff running through the East playoffs in a controlled environment

If we’re giving Kawhi imaginary chips let’s give him another one for that WCF run after Ingles tore his ACL

And another one for ZaZa injuring him in that spurs/warriros game 1

Man's biggest contribution to the game right now is really giving Sneaker accounts consistent content to post

It's not 'imaginary chips' so much as acknowledging that the team you pointed out that blew it up soon after he left was a very different situation to the team that brought everyone back immediately and healthy coming off a title winning squad

Night and day but I won't get it the way of more HIM'ing it up

Miami and the Lakers would have wiped the floor with that raptors team, kawhi or not. Imo. Im just saying, that championship run was great, but that was never going to be a repeat/dynasty team. Imo. We will never know. It’s ok if you feel they would have been a dynasty.

That Raps team was the most well balanced roster since this current Celtics squad so I don't really buy that at it's base tbh and everyone knows Bron and Jimmy + Bam are my guys .

They would've had answers for anything the Heat or the Lakers would throw at them.

No one's talking dynasty but the idea was that they were genuinely perfectly equipped to run it back at the time with him back coming off what we all saw him do in the playoffs on his Kawhichael ****
