The Official NBA Season Thread: Season Starts Now

Watching this. Its crazy how composed Mike was during that entire sequence.

Also Kobe must've studied him like a maniac. Their movements, body language... everything is identical.

Absolutely.
Mans played nearly the entire game when he did all that. Pip was barely walking you can see he barely could make the first double team on Malone.

A major part was something he did to the Suns when the Bulls were down 4 with a bit over a minute left in their game 6 in the Finals. Marlje missed a fadeaway and MJ takes the ball court to court for a quick and easy layup to bring the lead down to 2. This sets up Paxton’s game winning three. He did the same thing vs rhe Jazz with that quick layup to cut the lead to one. Next he Steals the ball and hits the game winner.

Absolutely brilliant sequences.

Mike was real methodical in 95-98. He knew when to go fast when to slow dow, his starts and stops. Everything was planned out like he knew what was about to happen. Kobe was there in 2009-12. Same with Bron 2016-now.

Solid slate today

Cavs- Nugs
Warriors- Wemby, Vassell the Wembettes
Rockets - Mavs
A Duke L in the Elite 8
Thunder-Knicks

“The toughest era to score in” and you give up a baseline strong hand drive followed by an iso at the top of the key with the best player ever. Where was Antoine Carr following Rodman?

🤔
here is your answer?

who exactly is going to double? you got Kerr in the corner. Pippen on top and Kukoc on the other corner. they got Rodman near the paint that can easily cut inside once Carr decides to double, and could easily pass to Kukoc if ever Karl decides to cover Rodman. besides, Carr was lingering in the paint which could easily be called for a defensive 3. we didn't know exactly what Jordan was going to do whether to allow him the jumper or the penetration. it's not like it was an easy decision. last possession everyone was anticipating Jordan to take the last shot but still deciding if he was going to drive, pull-up or pass. Jordan was just in that moment. it's not like people are just strolling there like today's NBA.

This video was hella different from the other one lol. Utah was playing elite defense: doubling, hedging, helping, staying disciplined

Jordan at the top of the key was probably the most favorable position and the most difficult to defend

Anytime Jordan drove there was a contest by multiple bodies. Carr wasn't stuck to Rodman at all he was sagging into the paint and tried to protect the rim after Jordan shrugged off Russell

Definitely not rocket science to force Scottie or Kukoc to be the one to make the big play instead of letting the best player ever eviscerate you in isolation
