The Official NBA Season Thread: NBA Cup Night

I’d get rid of the MVP and just call it the “Regular Season Player of The Year” award.

Jokic is tied with wins with the #1 seed in NBA. His stats are better or similar to the other candidates.

Is Jokics supporting cast better than any of the other MVP candidates? No.

There shouldn't be an issue with him winning MVP.

If thats the criteria why he win it last year as a 6th seed?

People keep tryna loop Giannis and Joel into the same international player category as Jokic and it's being done in bad faith when we know that is not how America operates or functions.

Not at all. Boxing shows that. They'll root for a irish white boxer over a black american boxer.

Same reason why people might clown Jokic. Chubby, slow, can't jump is the same reason these media people and certain fans identify with and love him.

Russ won an MVP shooting 42.5% from the field on a 6th seed only because he averaged a triple double.

Definitely isn’t any certain criteria.

Nope. It's a regular season award in Milwaukee dominated that season. Giannis one defensive player of the year as well, I don't really think it was that close.
2 more wins in a weaker conference isn’t really dominating

They gave him 2 MVP's while winning less than 50 games both times.

Also the narrative that Jokic has less help is wrong too. Denver has 3 other players averaging over 17 a game and 3 more in double digits.

Also Jokic is 0-2 against Giannis and Embiid this year and Embiid worked him in front of everyone and put 50 on his head.

Jokic still MVP though.....ok.

Russ/Harden/Kawhi all had good arguments for MVP that year. Not dissimilar to what we’ve seen the last few years.
