I believe that's a good suggestion. Apart from financial rewards, what other incentives could make it worthwhile not only for the players but also for the fans? Just picture a less-than-stellar team winning it and earning a spot in the playoffs. I'm open to the idea.

They simply need to be cautious about the timing of the in-season tournament. The last thing we want is for the concept to be put into action, and the tournament concludes right after the All-Star break, allowing the winner to coast through the rest of the season.
