The Official NBA Season Thread

Since I started following the NBA draft (2002), generational prospects to me:

Yao, Bron, Oden, Durant, maybe DRose, AD, maybe Zion, Wemby.

To me the list is

Bron, KD, AD, Wemby.

That's it. Even if I think Wemby is overrated I see the appeal.

How can you be a generational talent if you never even won MVP?

Derrick Rose and Westbrook have a better claim than AD.

Prospect =/= Realized talent-production

Obviously AD's had a great career, but there have been shortcomings on that elite level.

What's more common an athletic guard that's about 6'2 or a 6'11 big with AD's mobility and defensive ability coupled with his offensive ability in the post and facing up?

Generational Talent. Not Generational career/accolades.

Think DRose set himself apart because he had elitest of elite athleticism with the scoring skills and nuance/PG skills.

Ok if its as a "prospect" it makes sense why they'd think AD can be generational.

But now, seeing what most these prospects have become, AD is not a generational player.

What do people consider as a generation? 10/20/30 years? AD was a top player of the past 20 years? Definitely not.

And on top of it AD has had a better career than Rose too so what are we really discussing right now? Rose had 1 and a half season. Not nearly enough to get in the conversations he is put in.

1st team ALL-Vibes coming through again.

Guys like Shaq, Tim Duncan, Lebron, Iverson, Kareem, Wilt, Magic, Rose, Isaiah Thomas, generational types. Dudes who were getting hyped before college or at least freshman year.

Iverson went #1 overall in the 96 draft as a small guard… that was insane. That draft was stacked and a 6’ guy went #1.

Iverson makes more sense than Rose.

If AI was 6'4 he would've been the GOAT.

Kyrie too. Whenever a guy is 6’2” or shorter and goes top 5, he has to be SPECIAL!! Kyrie only played like 10 games and still went #1.

I remember the Tim Duncan hype, he was supposed to go #1 two years in a row, but chose to go back to wake forest as a sr. Of course the LeBron, Melo and KD/Beasley hype too. Those guys were considered generational.

Kenny Anderson and Marbury had CRAZY hype in high school too. Wiggs and Jabari Parker in the conversation also.

AD was definitley the can't miss prospect of the 2010s. Defense, great size, athletic as can be, soft touch, handles, had flashes of a jumper (which never sustained).

Splitting hairs, he was probably below a tier Bron/Wemby. KD probably has a claim with Bron/Wemby, but again he was #2 in his own HS/draft class behind Oden which tells you how much people thought of him at the time.

Nobody couldn’t tell me that Jabari Parker was the next Melo/Paul Pierce. He was my guy for real

OG Zeke was considered generational?

HS parade all America, College champion and all America, prized recruit of Bobby Knight, went 2nd in his draft yeah.

Zeke was like “That”. As a short PG, he was in that CP3, Kenny Anderson mold when he was coming out of High School.

So this means Mark Aquirre was generational too since he went 1st

I'm with ill steelo ill steelo if you wasn't picked first you're DQ'd

Zeke was like that of course doe

Yo AD as a generational talent is the absolute nastiest of work. Mans barely got in the top 75.

I guess Oliver Miller was a generational talent too?

This can’t serious.

Even he don’t believe it
