I can’t say this is what LeBron wanted but it’s kind of the only way that Rust trade makes sense. If he felt that they wouldn’t win a chip with their previous roster and there was no available there to put them over the top then a Russ trade allows him to jumpstart his long-term play while not facing scrutiny for failing to win a championship.

To the mainstream media, non-hoopers and smart folks he managed to trick it seemed like they would “figure it out” and “make it work”. In reality it’s a **** show, as some expected, but Lebby gets his numbers so he escapes all blame, even has folks feeling sorry for him and he gets closer to Kareem. It is the perfect setup for him to dip after next season tbh.
