*Photography noob here.

I got a Pentax k200 for Christmas and I'm wondering how that compares to the Nikon D40. Is it better, worse, or around the same?

Does anybody use a D300 here? I can't decide choosing between a 50D or a D300 (not D300s)... I used to shoot with a D90 but thinking about switching toCanon, opinions?

some holiday shots w/ my new 50mm 1.4. i'm loving this thing right now

You can use the stitch feature.
I'm aware of photo stitching, but I want to know how to make a good panoramic shot.

Got a D40 for my birthday last month from my girl gonna look through this thread to try and get some tips, but for those that own the d40 is there anyway toget a picture off in darker settings? When I try it will work randomly, but most of the time it wont even take a picture

Your camera should have a panoramic mode... if not photoshop elements is a cheap watered down version but if you google around there's freeprograms.. I believe one is called GIMP or something like that... look into it

Congrats on the new camera, but not to knock you or anything.. but from what i've read the d5000 is the same as the d40 except for the video and swivelscreen and the vr lens.. otherwise its pretty much the same exact camera.. The next model up from the d40 (currently out not talking about older stuff) wouldbe the d90.

If your shooting on manual and its dark.. bump up the iso to 800 or higher (even tho it will get grainier) and keep the aperture wide open for quicker shuttertime. What lens are you using and how dark are we talking?

^^^^No HDR. Just add a tint to it and played with the levels of course. The rest was just good light from the tree. I took like over 300 pics from x-mas andthis was probably the only one I liked. All the rest were pretty bad but I blame the beer and wine.

testing out the 7D

*bonus* just built the lightbox (it's pretty crappy but it served its purpose).

Some stuff from the holiday..
C/C welcome..
I'm new.. I don't change the adjustments on my camera..
I just play with stuff in Microsoft photo editor.
