The Official PlayStation 3 | ViTA Thread Vol. Plenty of Life Left

Will be picking up/playing my first ever Assassins Creed game tonight which is crazy to think about considering it's a game right up my alley. Must be because over the years AS has always gone head to head with FIFA, 2K, and Modern Warfare.

So I picked up my new ps3 today and when I try to play AC3 it tells me the latest update data for this software has been found. When I try to download it, it gets to a certain percent then gets stuck, signs me out of PSN, then tells me an error has occurred. What's the problem?

Probably because of the hurricane. PSN and game servers been up and down the past 24 hours.

Sitting in the Starbucks parking lot playing my Vita :lol.

Might be w/o power for 2 weeks.... :x

Need a little help and hopefully the NT conglomerate can get me a solution...

My PS3 stopped taking discs. I can't put any kind of disc in, like it wont take it. You know how when you put a disc in, the PS3 will suck it in by itself without any force from you...well it stopped doing that for me. I sure don't want to force it in and possibly mess things up even more.

I can still play downloaded games, but I can't play hard copies or watch my blu-rays.

Help?????? Thanks in advance, guys.

It might be a problem with your PS3's disc tray, really not sure though.

You best bet may be to see if there's a repair shop in your area to take your PS3 to.
just buy a blu ray drive off ebay and install it. several tutorials exist. if that doesnt solve the problem return the drive and just get a new ps3

i kinda want a ps vita. im not sure if its worth it tho

Thanks guys!

So the plot thickens...

I can no longer play downloaded games either! WTF?! When I select the downloaded game, the screen just goes black and stays black. I can't do anything, so I have to just power it off by just holding the power button down. Now every time I turn it back on, I get the error saying the PS3 wasn't powered off properly.

I restored the file system and then it worked ok. After I was done, I turned it off, and then a few hours later I turn it back on to play another downloaded game. Crap, it happened again. Screen turns black and stayed black. WTF?!

This system is about 5-6 years old now, is it just doomed and time for me to get a new one?

^ Welp.

Looks like it's about time to get a new PS3.

I'd trade that in and get some value for it ASAP.

Speaking of trade-ins, Hyper, DSK and anyone else that trade in their PS3s.

Did y'all restore your PS3 to default settings prior to trading your system in or do the Gamestop employees do that at the store?

What does deactivating the system do?

Is it to prevent someone using the PS3 from downloading content you got from the PS Store?

exactly, if you don't deactivate and you try to redownload your items you might be prevented from doing so. the ps3 only allows 2 PS3's to share the same content

I copped NFS most wanted...... Don't like it. anyone around queens or nyc wants it pm me.... $40 bucks and it yours

I'm starting to think that my wireless router can't handle all these things being connected to it. Do you guys think if I connect the ps3 with an ethernet cable that would help?

Do you have anything drawing a large amount of bandwidth at one time (torrents, streaming movies/tv, ect)? You can try with an ethernet cable and it might make a difference, but you shouldnt have to do that.

I dont think it would be your router... my household runs 2 desktops, 3 PS3's, 5 360's, 2 laptops, an I-Pad, and 2 cell phones off of one router... and its nothing special, just your average router.

yea i bought a 10 foot ethernet and connected it. but if u buy a long ethernet cable make sure its high quality becuase the signal gets weaker the longer the wire is.

is there anything special you can do with more than one ps3? like is there any benefits to that or anything cool you can do?

Just 2 laptops, 2 iPhones, and the ps3. I'm gonna call Sony when I get home from work.

Quick question I have a broken (40GB but I can put in 160 if need be) PS3 with a broken DS3, if I take it to Gamestop will I have to buy another controller and will I get $55 or up.

I also have a cracked broken 8GB iPhone 3G w/ no charger or wall adaptor, will Gamestop give me anything for it?

Im on that RewardsPro too

My PS Store doesn't look any different

I dont think so... :lol I own two. One I use for all my games, one I have in my room to watch netflix. I got it for $100 so its basically my back-up.

Our cable provider (Telus) uses X-Box 360's as their HD boxes for cable which is why we have 5 in the house.

how can i get it?
It's in the PSN store and for a good price too. It should have gotten a PS+ discount though.

Picking up Street Fighter x Tekken, Ragnarok Odyssey and Need for Speed for my vita this week. I need another job with the way things are going.

For the Marvel heads I downloaded the trial for MvC Originis and It was a lot of fun. I was trying to play it like Marvel 3 though which didn't work. It's very good but broken as hell.

Ay bros...help me out w/ something.

Like I mentioned some pages back, even after grabbing a new PS3 and getting BO2 when it drops, I'll still have extra $$$ in Gamestop credit that I could use for whatever. So I've pretty much decided to finally cop a gaming headset (never had one) and was looking for opinions from NT'ers who know their ****.

As far as price range...I think anything $150ish and under will be fine. Doesn't matter if it's $70 or $140...I just want something that's good and won't malfunction/break so easily. Durability is important. I also don't care if it's wired or wireless. If it's wired, I just need for the cables to not be weak...if I go wireless, I'd like it if I wasn't recharging the headset half of the time.

From what I've read online so far, PX21's are cool but seem to break easily. I read good things about the official PS3 wireless headset but it seems like a firmware update made them worse. I'm not crossing anything off yet though, I'm open to suggestions.

Get @ me.

yo N_ dont get the PX21's
i got tape all over this Bieh holding it together
yes ive had mine for 2 years tho and sound/mic quality is nice evidence of when i was bumping music that one nite
but it just feels mad cheap
ive been meaning to cop another headset but looking at all these shoe release dates i might not get one till like Jan :lol
ive been looking at either Tritton AX720 or Astro A40's tho
