Sony won't be holding a press conference at Gamescom 2015

Sony will not be hosting a press conference at this year's Gamescom, Sony Computer Entertainment Europe has confirmed to VideoGamer.com.

Instead, it will be holding an "international media briefing" at Paris Games Week in October.

"We're delighted to announce that we will be hosting an international media briefing at Paris Games Week on 27th October," SCEE said in a statement provided to VideoGamer.com.

"With the changes this year of E3 taking place a week later and Gamescom taking place earlier, we feel that both PlayStation and the wider industry would benefit from a major news milestone later in the year, during the most important period for gaming. We are excited about our plans and look forward to sharing some exciting announcements. We will share more information closer to the time."

The decision marks the first time Sony has chosen not to hold a press conference at Gamescom since the event's debut in 2009.

It used last year's event to unveil the PS4 versions of Until Dawn, Tearaway Unfolded and Michel Ancel's survival game WiLD, and reveal the first details on PS4's 2.0 system update.

It also launched its own event, PlayStation Experience, in December last year, where it made other major announcements.

Gamescom 2015 begins on August 5th, one week earlier than last year's show. E3, meanwhile, gets underway in just over one month's time.

This. Has THPS ever been taken serious? I just want to have fun plain and simple. I never played played Skate but I don't want no serious THPS game.

They should bring back that one song... "You gotta wash yo ***"

skate is VERY fun. its more rewarding that THPS. instead of left square for a kickflip u gotta actually mimmick the motion. flick down then left for example. when u land tricks, u feel like u actually did something moreso than... down+square, down+square, diagonal+square, triangle, right+square>X>up+square. and now uve landed like 20 straight tricks. but whatever. as long as skateboarding games come back i guess in some way its a win.

Personally, I think there is room for both, similiarily how you can have arcade racers and sim racers. 

THPS tried to mimic Skate in it's later releases and it just couldnt do it as well. Going back to the more arcadey feel is what alot of the fans wanted.

Exactly. I'm not against a "sim" skater but I want THPS similar to how it was back on PSOne. I'm fine with it being "easy", there are plenty of other challenging games I cannllay. I actually hope they release a new Skate too. The more the better.

I didn't realize how many of you guys were hype for The Witcher. I'm still debating if I want to get it day one or not. I should have the platinum for Bloodborne sometime this week so I'm considering The Witcher now.

I haven't got it yet. I have 3 more chalice dungeon bosses I need to beat. Right now I'm at a little less than 60 hours. It's challenging, not hard. You won't just throw this in and run through it, definitely a high learning curve, especially if you have no prior experience with Souls games. It's possible to plat in one playthrough but you there's a little manual Dave trick you need to do before you go and fight the final boss.
