I will give GT the weather but that is it
I have played them both for countless hours. GT needs to step it up.
They both need to step it up with Ptoject Cars round the corner.
they should have made gt6 for ps4 instead of ps3... the next gran turismo is going to to take 3 years now
According to Kaz, it shouldn't take too long since the PS4 is easier to develop for. Plus all the models they used for GT5/6 can be used in this game but without been watered down. The premium models that is.
Speaking in a interview Yamauchi said, “We don’t want to take too long on Gran Turismo 7″, which would be good considering how long the last one took. “Best-case scenario? Next year”, he thinks. The reason for the considerably reduced development time on PlayStation 4. “In GT6 we really had to tune the software 100 per cent to maximise the PS3′s architecture,” says Kaz. “But the PS4′s hardware is much better, so I think the overall quality of the game across the board will be boosted when you come to play it”.

Next year hopefully. I can't see them releasing GT7 this year.
why is having a day/night cycle a staple of the racinng sim genre?
I personally dislike night driving in games.
Like Sinners said, there are many 24 hour racing events and they really test your skill.
Here's someone driving on the Le-mans and Nurburgring circuit at night. You obviously won't do this with an F1 car since they have no lights but it shows how different tracks can be at night. It's pitch black at some points.
