the thread about nothing...

Interesting take up there about charter schools.

I worked at a charter school for about 1 year and thought it was amazing. The teachers were all really plugged in and cared for the students and so was the administration (principal / vp). The students were completely held accountable and every student was focused on. Saw almost unimaginable changes in reading levels for so many students in the one year span.

It was the exact reason why i asked. i heard it from both sides. when a charter school is what you described, not only is it killing all the public schools (not saying much since they all suck) around it in terms of testing results and student improvements, but also the private schools.

I’m actually really interested to see how much it costs to run a school correctly.

Sometimes seem like the return on a dollar is 10x when invested in educating the next generation correctly. And especially helping kids from lower socioeconomic areas.

Always a little surprising to me that there aren’t company funded “private” schools geared toward this purpose. Seems like a repeatable and very positive way for companies to get tax write offs while doing actual good in the community they are located in.

I always thought a partnership between public schools and nearby companies for mentor/mentee relationships made sense

I forgot how good back to the future was

Haven't seen it in years
One of the all time greats. Loved all 3. Glad Doc got his in the 3rd, love his character. I really hope Hollywood let's this one be man & doesn't decide to do a remake & butcher it. Some things in life are better left undisturbed, untouched.

bro, i feel you. growing up in an immigrant asian/buddhist household, my parents had no concept of what chirstmas was. in the late 80s and 90s. i remember going back to school after winter break and being hella jealous of all the toys/games the homies got. next generation aint gonna know that pain

i remember being a little jealous of career day because my parents never attended because they don't speak english like that.
