the thread about nothing...

The Suicide Squad this year, is an offshoot of what you’re saying, where they messed it up—one where the first one in 2016 was an interesting idea and moneymaker for 1-2 sequels if you nail the landing and they didn’t. They wish this one had been the original. So there are remakes now in comic book universes with billion-dollar potential nets, where the concept was so lucrative that the studio has to remake it. It’s not a shot for shot remake of the story obviously but you couldn’t really do that only two years later, and that storyline in the 2016 one was weak anyway.

For sure like Dune might be better than the original when it comes to what you’re saying in terms of telling the same story, and even that we’re just guessing. It never happens really, even if the remake is good.

There are untouchables that should never be remade like Forrest Gump, Animal House, Friday, Wizard of Oz, **** even The Goonies.
I didn't think about suicide squad, I only saw the first one and like most of the people I was deceived, in fact I don't care about superheroes movies in general, I didn't watch it by my own.
Not to be elitist or anything else but in general superheroes movies have no soul, that's just popcorn movies, but not in a good way like Back to the Future or something.
Exceptions could exist like the 2 Batman from Tim Burton, but in general those films are just not for me.
Also I have nothing against Will Smith, but I'm not considering him as a great actor either.
Having Jared Leto in your movie and wasting him like this, I just don't know how they could...

EDIT : Your post made me think I haven't seen the new Blade Runner, the new Mad Max, the new Bad Lieutenant etc.
Need to check them, at least by curiosity and I heard the new Blade Runner was good ?

EDIT 2 : Still haven't checked OG Scarface and OG Cape Fear, so many movies...

I'm not a fan of beers in general, this one is often considered as some women drinks here

My friend today just told another friend in a group chat to stop bothering him to come over today because he’s watching Blade Runner 2049, so it is weird you bring that one up

I’ve never seen 2049, I will, but not until I rewatch the Harrison Ford one which I haven’t seen since high school film class.

Agreed on comic book movies, I see them all as movie theater trips with friends but the “good ones” relative to the subgroup aren’t good or original as overall movies ever usually.

We’ve seen the formula: big action scene to start, then 30 minutes of introducing the characters (how evil the villain REALLY is, good guys fighting and then realizing they have stuff in common), second big action scene about 45 minutes in, then, the good characters discuss whether their soul is good or not about two thirds the way in, and then take down the bad guy(s) at the end. It’s those same beats every superhero movie

Tbh my favorite beer (Lindemans Kriek) is one that almost only women drink. Besides myself I don't think I've ever actually seen a fellow guy drink it in public.
Lindemans is one Belgium's most renowned beer producers and their various fruit beers win loads of international awards.
I don't like the idea of 'woman drinks', to me it just comes off as not being secure enough in your masculinity. A lot of people refuse to even try Lindemans' fruit beers because of that 'woman beer' stigma.

I did enjoy the 2 Deadpool though, and don't know if one day someone would be able to make something good with Silver Surfer, all his doubts could be interesting (haven't seen the Fantastic 4 he's in)

EDIT : What about Spawn, I heard the movie was really really bad, have to check it one day, again, maybe they could do something good with it, at least no risk it would be worse...

the first suicide squad in my opinion was a hot mess. problem was, they didn't develop the characters enough to make them likeable or worth sympathizing. I believe the only character that only had that much airtime was Will Smith's character which in a way wasn't even that good but rather scene stealing arrogance that the subplot is not even worth the watch (probably to please Will Smith that his character should be the center piece), Will Smith has done this in the past since becoming a part of that Tom Cruise cult.

Speaking of Spawn... This happened during the Mortal Kombat 11 EVO grand final yesterday. Very hard to pull off in any situation because of the degree of execution it requires, to do that combo in a grand final of one of the biggest tournaments is pretty crazy.
Netherrealm Studios did a good job with Spawn as a guest character in MK11

speaking of superhero movies and dialogues, there was one film that got me quite emotional since it could be relatable. I normally watch superhero movies for entertainment and don't care much for the plot or dialogue, but this scene in my opinion is enough as worth for the price of admission.

Funny you mention both of them because I have difficulties to watch movies with these 2 ones
Like if there was a lot of random in their choices or I don't know...
But I have to insist at least for Tom Cruise as I do know some films deserve it, at least for directors

Always little roles playing villains, and always efficient at it, he captures the attention

Robert LaSardo

I remember the first episode of Nip/Tuck, seeing him in it made me think : this show is serious.

those two haven't done anything really good for the longest time. I don't believe it's because they are has beens but rather the material, dialogue and character development of their movies aren't relatable. from what I was reading, it was their arrogance and self-entitlement that got people irked watching or supporting them. Gemini Man is a piece of garbage, same with the recent Bad Boys Forever. and I'm about as nervous with Topgun 2 and new mission impossible.

That's funny because I didn't know until a very few time ago that some people had difficulties with Tom Cruise too. When you think both him and Brad Pitt were known at first as sex symbols and how Brad Pitt managed his career...Or DiCaprio later, they succeed to have multiple careers, especially DiCaprio, we saw him in a few movies as a teen, then the period people considered him more for his appearance, then as an adult, and he was good even as a teen, haven't rewatched What's Eating Gilbert Grape, but from my memories he already played well (like Johnny Depp), Basketball Diaries, This Boy's Life...

The more the time passes the more Tom Cruise just got some "weird" vibe, that's where Collateral is brilliant, it looked like it was written for him, I would be happy to see him more in weird roles, because to be honest an action movie with Tom Cruise is certainly not the thing I'm looking for...Even if you want some action movie you could have Dwayne or Jason Statham so...

fantastic actor. The kind that make you hate him irl lmao. What happened to him?
nip/tuck would totally get pulled off the air today....
I think mainstream movies might don't call him anymore ? And if I'm correct he's Italian playing Latinos, it could play a role in this, or his age ?
There were no problems with people playing roles of other ethnies before, except when it was too visible like White/Black, but nowadays it might have changed...
Yes, Nip/Tuck came right in time, today it would be impossible to see a show like this. Like Oz
Both first Nip/Tuck and Oz episodes are incredible. I don't know how pilots like these wouldn't lead people to order other episodes
That's funny, there was a time you could tell your vision of the truth even if it was dark, and no one had problem with this, like Ferrara's movies, but now you got to avoid future problems in the creating process, while having to deal with producers...
Maybe people would get bored of trying to cancel anything and in a few years it would change...Cancel Art doesn't mean life becomes beautiful instantly...

Dafalgan with Codeine was the only thing that helped me when I suffered a lot with teeth, I don't know if it would help here...
Also as it contains codeine we have to be reasonnable and not taking too many ones...
