The Timepiece Thread vol: READ THE 1st POST!!!

I'd rather someone wear an 80's anything than a fake, i'll say that much.

I think that all the shade is coming from people who really know a lot about horology and could make a much more advanced decision on what watch to buy. If your goal was to purchase a Rolex and your budget was 3k then you did what you were trying to accomplish and no one can really say much about it. At the end of the day, most people don't know anything about watches except that Rolex is expensive and thus you will garner 90% of people's respect and feel accomplished in your decision.

People who are on the boards and threads like these would argue that the 3k would be better spent on an IWC Pilot, Omega Seamaster or Tudor Pelagos. But it isn't their decision to make really, and I totally understand that majority of people would look at those 3 watches I mentioned and see them as less prestigious as your 80's DJ. At the end of the day, congratulations and i'm glad you're happy with the watch.

I for one, just purchased an early 90's 36mm president, missing the box, papers and bracelet. It's literally just the watch face/case/movement alone. I am putting an aftermarket green dial on it and a plain aftermarket leather strap. I'm doing it strictly for fashion reasons, and just because i'm bored and in the jewelry industry so I have access to these things cheap. Most people in the watch game would never do such a thing, but it's a fashion trend now so I thought i'd go for it. Hopefully it will come out similar to this (pic below), but i'm going with a standard black strap. For those interested, once serviced i'll be around 2800-3000 invested :lol . But I can almost guarantee that many people and some of my friends would think it costs more than my DJ2 or BLNR.

Did someone post a fake in here recently?

I agree though, if you are going to spend $3k-$4k and want it new or close to new, then an Omega is the best choice hands down. Rolex are an investment somewhat though, Im pretty sure he can turn around and at least get his money back anytime he wants.

That President looks sick though, wish I could wear anything under a 40mm and it not look childish

@M BOIZ  @DieselJordans   What do you guys do to afford those? Haha serisously

I've got a pretty cool concept for a watch that I'd like to try and make, and then try and sell it. Anyone know of how to get into the watch business? I know this isnt a thread for that but maybe someone can come through with solid advice, thanks.

Well I actually just started out with a Sub and then through buying and trading was able to move up to the Deepsea. If you make decent money and have good credit you  can buy just about anything these days, you can also find some steals in the used and grey market as well.

I heard @FLYKNITLVR  got deeeeeep pockets though

Man, I think that looks stunning with the green on green. I would definitely wear it just like that.

But then again, I'm not very traditional when it comes to many things.

Need some help guys...

Do any of the experienced watch enthusiasts in here approve of this deal/ does this look legit? He says he has all paperwork and warranties. It's used but in pristine condition and the guy is willing to take 580.

It's funny how as you say has anyone posted a fake, that guy posts that Daytona.

R Rj4147 I'll tell you this much. I'm in advertising and it can be lucrative some years more than others but that is beyond the point. If you want something such as a nice watch then you do the due diligence. That pertains to price, your budget, the desire and most importantly patience.

To be quite honest if you have good credit then by all means pay a visit to Tourneau and apply for their credit card. Which is usually 30 months interest free for watches over 3K. If you're smart you can put $1K down and finance the rest but always pay double your minimum payment to buy yourself some time (pun intended) to see how you can manage the rest of your bill ya dig? That's all I got for now so boss your life up and live damn it!

How can you tell its fake?

Subdials are too close together, indicating a cheap movement inside the watch. The pushers stick out too much, the bezel is trash and it doesn't even line up to 12 o clock. The engraved rehaut is not supposed to line up that way with the markers. I could probably go on and on.

Just by looking at the 1x1 inch photo on my phone, the pushers are to thin and way to long.
Your girl got her teeth pushed in and her coochie smell like defrosted shrimp

You forgot to take off that plastic wrap covering the glass and part of the bezel.

Also the serial number, F432117, on your watch is fake.

Just sayin'
Duly noted, thanks Franklin

Obviously it's fake but it's a good quality one made in Germany I have a connect out there
Paid $100 bucks, better than shelling out 12 grand for a watch that only difference is the pusher thinners, and the rehaut
So chill fall back
