The Ultimate Soccer Thread 2011-2012. VOL 2 (EPL,LFP, SERIE A, BUND, ETC.)

That was a surprisingly bad PK take for Leo, probably too much time to think about it. Not enough power or placement.
Above, do you really need to ask that question? It's the ridiculous flopping and unnecessary playacting that has disgraced Barcelona. More specifically Pedro, Busquets, and Villa. It started most evidently in the first-leg of the CL semis against Madrid. Wasn't as bad but still continued in the return leg as well as the second league match.

There's no reason for Barca to dive all over the place and try to sell calls with outrageous playacting. Truthfully when they play football the right way it's beautiful to watch the crisp short passing and dominating possession statistics, the negative tactics against Madrid only blemishes and tarnishes the potential legacy.

Game by game, they don't dive much more than anyone else. When it happens against Real it just gets magnified because of Mourinho and the media, and certain players end up with a reputation for it, though all that is largely a byproduct of the type of game Real chose to play in those games. I didn't see any blatant diving today anyway, which is what he was referring to.

Besides, a fan of a team with Di Maria, Ronaldo, Marcelo et al surely shouldn't be complaining about diving and theatrics...

exactly. Even our own players admit that's what they had to do since they were getting fouled and hacked on EVERY POSSESSION. I think it was Pique who said it in an interview. The way Madrid plays reminds me of high school soccer, where there's only one ref and he doesn't call the blatant kicks to the back of the leg during a match. What else are you supposed to do besides sell the foul?

And before you Real fanboys decide to come up with a smart @#% response, there's entire movies dedicated to your boy Ronaldo's diving

They're certainly doing their job.  Solid, not panicking when pressured.

at that smirk on Vidic's face as Evans was sent off.
City need to get that insurance goal now or face the inevitable stoppage time equalizer.

2-0.

Great work from Silva and Milner, reliable finish from Mario.

This is huge. This could be the birth of a Man City run of dominance in the EPL and perhaps even Europe.
