Bringing in world class talent is always a good thing but how badly do we need Sneijder? I'm not going to get excited over 1 game and games against a Barca B squad and the MLS All Stars, but what's your knock on Cleverley at this point, he's too frail? Inexperience?

Makes a damn good argument. Sneijder pulling the strings would with our attack would just be

look around...do you see any dead-ball specialist in the Utd squad?
and now with Scholes gone,we need a world-class creative midfielder more than ever and Sneijder seems to be the only one that's "obtainable"...

in case you've forgotten,he has won the La Liga with Real and a treble with Inter and also helped Holland to the WC final scoring 5 goals in the process...

he was on loan at Wigan last season and did well to help them avoid relegation...
and in that Community Shield match he showed that he could come up against top-class midfielders like De Jong and Toure...
personally,i think he's neither frail nor inexperienced but he will need a couple more seasons to establish himself as a seasoned performer...

i agree with you though,there's nothing to get excited over the last two matches but the signs are indeed encouraging for United...

Damn, it's hard to criticize him because most of the time he's so good, but this dude Kompany always has an epic fail against United. I just remembered that he slipped and allowed the ball to come to Rooney for that bicycle kick goal last season.

Cleverley was very good, much better than Carrick, granted it was a glorified friendly,
but the atmosphere was very intense. Thought Man Utd. really got going when Cleverley

Went to the Barca game today, was pretty dope, saw a Ronaldo Corinthians kit

along with a Bale Spurs kit

Come on now, that must be why Steve Kean practically begged Schalke to make the move permanent. I think he also had more man of the match performances than any other Blackburn player after joining in January.

He was easily one of their best players the second half of the season and the general consensus among Blackburn supporters was that he was absolutely fantastic for them. Saying he was awful at Blackburn is downright wrong.

I can understand not liking the type of player he is but he is VERY good at what he does and for a through and through destroyer his technique and vision are superior to that of a lot of his counterparts. Jones has his faults but he is a good player and has been recognized as such everywhere he's been.

As for Schalke wanting to sell, I'd attribute that to recent history, a new manager, and his massive contract, not his quality.

Luis Gil also scored his first MLS goal yesterday, he's been getting a lot of playing time for the RSL first team this summer. Jason Kreis has handled his development exceptionally well the last few years.

United will be fine.


City however don't need creativity, but they desperately need that Roy Keane/Patrick Viera figure on the field.  You see glimpses of it from Kolorov but that team is destined to underachieve if they don't find someone on the field to lead em.

Kinda od last yrs thread had like 1 city supporter.. Now we have a bunch . Hearing ally of "it was just a bs preseason game" .. Deff didn't have that feel, neither team fielded a weakened team, and everyone was playing extremely hard. Had city won, supporters would have been calling for epl trophy, but since we won , it's much easier to downplay the loss.

They will be fine. They just played an even match against the Premier League champs without their two best strikers, and lost on a fluke error. The disdain shown towards City from the supporters of historically successful English clubs is borderline pathetic. And I'm not even a City supporter ftr.

fluke error my +@*... city showed that they still dont have it all together, this yr will be tough on them especially playing in the cl. Can see mancini gone by december. Two best strikers? I know tevez but Aguero hasnt played one game for them so how can he even be considered their best...
