Wings90 - Iniesta is the man, both he & Xavi help make Barca's strikers so dangerous. Love watching that team. Do people realize how good that team is at times? It's pure art.

Anyone excited about the Celtic vs Juventus tomorrow (2:30PM ET)? I am...They've been playing some good futbol this season. I like what Neil Lennon is doing.

Chelsea needs to recall Lukaku back from loan man

Not ready yet. He's still not even getting full 90's on the regular on loan. He wouldn't get them at Chelsea. They're building him up slowly, and it's paying off...If I were Chelsea, I'd even let him stay next season.

At least Liverpool can now concentrate on the Premier Leag... the League Cu... the Champions Lea... the FA Cu... their families.

You say this like they aren't giving 90's to Fernando Torres though. I'd much rather see someone who needs polish that is hungry than someone who is complacent and past it.

I know for some reason everyone wants Falcao in, but I would haev no problem going into next season with Ba and Lu as the CF's and reinvesting that Falcao money for replacements for Lamps and Ashley. Honestly, for the price of a Falcao, you could most likely bring in Luke Shaw, Fellaini, and a player like Andre Schurrle. Much smarter investment, IMO.

Lmao. Damn son, his brother's wife. BROTHER'S. WIFE. :{
And I thought Terry was bad. Giggs is rutheless. :lol
and the crazy thing about it is, his brother has kids with the broad . It's not like you can say he bro lets forget that broad and be bro's again. There's no recovering from that. :{

Not sure if this is what inspired the original post, but this is from a few days ago and made it's way to other sites, like Bleacher Report

I had novel like response I drafted up on my phone but didn't save it properly. But I usually bring up basketball when people say that the US is too big to be good a football or find the proper talent. As was already said, there isn't that MJ of football in the US yet, for men, women of course have the likes of Mia Hamm. But you two did a fine job discussing the cultural aspect, so there no need for me to repeat it.

There's 1 or 2 American players in Arsenals U18 system and Bayern has 2-4 American youths, I'm sure there are more American youths in German youth systems. I don't want to assume that all of them have dual nationalities but I think it would be a fair assumption. Chances are that they won't play for the US as much as the USSF makes an effort to get them. But knowing that they are American certainly makes me happy. It gives me hope knowing that they can possibility impact how Americans view the sport. The future does look promising, with recent changes to the youth system. As long as we don't have another Freddy Adu like situation...but he still does have time.

I saw a tweet this morning with a quote from Neuer saying he finds that he stops paying attention at times because the defensive line is so good :lol and it's true. They are such a force. As an Gunners fan it's rather frightening knowing that we won't have our two natural LBs available for those two matches. They were my favorites to win it last year and are my favorites this year too.
I didn't realize how much Schalke had fallen

Yup

I dont know if its just on here but I feel like Muller is underrated .. he never seems to be talked about on here at least. Hes prob my favorite midfielder

as long as Robben doesn't take shot attempts/penalties, Bayern could very well be the next champs. Very few athletes choke on the big stage as much as he does

Man of the Match for the other team :{

Sounders get a surprise greeting by Mikael Silvestre in Tucson
The Sounders arrived in Arizona on Monday for two weeks of preseason training and participation in the Desert Diamond Cup. They were met by defender Mikael Silvestre, who played nine years for Manchester United.

Another big name has joined Sounders FC camp.

The team traveled back to Tucson, Ariz., on Monday and was met there by defender Mikael Silvestre, a former French international who has played in Europe for clubs like Manchester United, Arsenal, Inter Milan and Werder Bremen.

Silvestre, 35, had been in camp recently with the Portland Timbers, and scored a goal against Seattle in a preseason exhibition last week. He played 40 games for France before his international retirement in 2006 and was a part of teams that won five Premier League championships and a UEFA Champions League title.

The Sounders have been in search for a central defender.......

I would have to agree, he doesn't get talked about much on here. But I think thats the case in general. He's enjoyable to watch. Always composed as hell :lol

I'm a fan of Shaqiri, glad to see him doing well since making the move from Basel

Any City fans been tracking John Guidetti, what are the chances of him making it to the first team next season?

Fan of Shaqiri here to 8)

Regarding Guidetti, It will all depend on if a striker is bought in the summer to replace Mario, Mancini says he trusts in Guidetti yet has barely give him a chance all season,
I can see him being loaned to an EPL team next season to see how he gets on first

There wasn't any inspiration Mastamind89 other than watching Giggsy outsprint people half his age consistently all season. I guess it's the cynic in me to question the ability of someone that age in light of Lance Armstrong, Tiger Woods, & MLB's A-Rod.

HAM CITY, abovelegit1 -

I agree with your assessments/thoughts when it comes to futbol here in the states, but I don't accept it as a means to inhibit us from having a good program. "Soccer" is the biggest youth participation sport in the US. There is no reason why we can't cultivate a better "soccer" culture here in the states. We've been incredibly lazy when it comes to cultivating good futbol here. It's the American way to say, "Oh we just don't have the money to do it".

I have 14 years of volunteer work in Baltimore City. The last several years I worked in a administrative capacity. The various charities I've volunteered for get very little money. The funds for which we operated under got smaller & smaller every year but we made do & provided better services/programs as each year passed (again with less money). Do you know why? Because we became more organized as our budget constraints got tighter.

What it all boils down to here in the states is that we're poorly organized (like ever other facet of our culture/country). Bruce Arena said something very telling not too long ago about "soccer" here in the states & why we can't get better - (paraphrasing) the country is just too big to be able to find a Messi [kanye shrug] & that pretty much sums up why we suck & why we'll never be considered a super power in futbol.

I marvel at La Masia & Bayern Munich's youth academy.

Here is a cool article about a kid from Tampa that's over in the Bayern Munich program (one of the kids Mastamind89 alluded to). Incredibly sad the kid has to go overseas to get top notch training (& stellar education).

With all the hype of Ronaldo returning to OT...

I figure I might as well post the clip of his debut...
