The Wire...

I plan to finally watch The Wire as soon as Lost wraps up. Heard plenty of good things about it.

I've been meaning to start this series sometime soon. Got all 6 seasons on my computer, just waiting for a good time to start.

The Wire is fantastic and so is The Corner, however, for me, The Sopranos tops them both. That's not a knock on The Wire's quality but rather it depends on the person watching and which topic they prefer. I've always been fascinated with the Mafia and I grew up on films like GoodFellas, Casino & Donnie Brasco so that's what's influenced my choice. Both shows though are the peak of television though and I doubt anything to come will be able to top them. I've started watching The West Wing which has started out real good, maybe you guys should peep it aswell if you like TV of The Wire's standard.

I need to watch the whole show from start to finish.

Need to get the set from bestbuy

You know what so great about the Wire , even when the actors moved on to other films or shows you still refer to them as their names on the wire .

the sopranos became a cartoon. The wire just got better and better. The ending alone make steh wire better imo.

The Wire is the greatest show ever made,  ever.  It's better than Shakespear,  better than almost all fictional stories in any medium.  The Wire, cannot,  be topped.

sig check you already know what it is! greatest TV series of all-time IMO

The Wire>_______

I've never seen any thing from The Wire.

Heard many good things from NT.
But really this is the only place I've ever heard it mentioned.

I watched 2.5 seasons of The Sopranos and didn't really care for it. Never got the hype behind that show, directing was cool and the camera work was superb, but the story line didn't work for me.

Off to find someone to borrow the DVDs from.

Cosign.
I'm taking a class on Classics and the film this quarter and we just finished two weeks on The Wire. David Simon read Greek tragedies while filming the first season (Medea, Antigone to name a few). Stuff is so much deeper than the average fan probably knows.

Just got through season two. Great show so far. Don't think it's the GOAT so far but I'll reserve judgment for when I've finished the series.

It's addicting if you're watching them, though.  I have a hard time just watching one, I always tell myself "one more", then one more becomes 4 more and it's dark out before I realize

I agree wholeheartedly with this statement.

The Wire is one of the best shows in television history.
