THEE OFFICIAL 2010-2011 MIAMI HEAT PLAYOFFS THREAD : CONGRATS MAVS FANS

FINAL SCORE AGAINST THE HORNETS 10/13/10 IN NEW ORLEANS
MIA 76 -- NOH 90
HEAT WERE LED BY CHRIS BOSH'S 24 POINTS (20 IN THE 3RD QTR) WHILE BOTH BRON AND WADE SAT OUT

One thing that I have noticed is an impressive showing from F James Jones from 3pt range. He'll be crucial as the season goes forth if he continues to make strides

I'm gonna hit up the game next Friday at the Forum and then Bron and Wade are throwing a party at the Venue in St. Pete.
Haslem convinced fellow Heat forward Jones to re-sign with Miami
At first, Heat forward James Jones was going to retire. The seven-year veteran sharpshooter has saved his money, and he didn’t want to uproot his family from Miami.

Then, Jones was going to sign with Boston. He had the contract from the Celtics in-hand and was close to signing. That’s when friendship intervened in the form of a telephone call from fellow Heat forward Udonis Haslem.

Jones and Haslem have known each other since junior high school. They are both Miami products. That phone call from Haslem is why Jones, who was 5-for-11 on three-pointers in Wednesday’s 90-76 loss at New Orleans, is with the Heat today.

“I had a talk with Udonis after I had pretty much committed to move forward, and that conversation centered around us both being guys that are from here, those dreams we had as kids to play here and be champions here,

Great read. A squad willing to look out for each other despite money and huge contracts! Love my Heat

good read.... ive noticed how a lot of our players knew each other or good friends from before... thats why i think we never picked up AI...

Good read. Its nice to see our players are looking out for each other and want each other there too.

I can't wait for the season to start already! One week away...

I would've liked to see Wade, Lebron and Bosh aviod injuries long enough to actually play together in the preseason.

Miami Heat's Mike Miller out with thumb injury
By Ira Winderman South Florida Sun Sentinel
Miami Heat swingman MikeMiller sustained what appears to be a serious thumb injury on hisright, shooting hand during Wednesday's practice at AmericanAirlinesArena, a source close to the situation told the Sun Sentinel.

Miller is not with the team for Thursday night's exhibition against theAtlanta Hawks at Philips Arena. He is scheduled to be examined by ahand specialist in South Florida.

"Obviously, he's disappointed," said teammate Udonis Haslem, who spokewith Miller after the injury. "He was so excited to be here and be apart of this. The good thing is it's not season-ending, from what I'mhearing. So that's a good sign.

"We look to get him back as soon as possible. He's a big part of this team."

Miller was injured when his thumb got tangled in a teammates' jersey.

"It was just a drill," coach Erik Spoelstra said. "He got it caught in a jersey with some contact, on a post-up."

Such an injury, even without surgery, can sideline a player for at least six weeks and potentially beyond two months.

"It's extremely unfortunate," said forward James Jones, who neededalmost two full seasons to regain his shooting stroke from a wristinjury. "It really, really stinks that Mike's injured. Once again, it'sone of our shooters, his shooting hand.

"I feel bad for him because I know how much time he's put in, how sharp he's been. I'm kind of speechless."

Miller had been starting at shooting guard in place of Dwyane Wade, whohas been sidelined since the exhibition opener with a strained righthamstring. Wade has received complete clearance to return to practice, but remains in Chicago at a custody hearing. Spoelstra said Joneslikely would start Thursday night at shooting guard.

Cast as a sixth man when he was added this offseason as a free agent, Miller stands as the team's primary 3-point threat.

Miller's shooting role would likely fall to Jones or guard Eddie House, who is scheduled to make his preseason debut in Thursday's exhibitionagainst the Hawks.

"It's crazy, how it's hitting us," House said. "I come back in, he goes down."

Teammates view Miller as more than just a 3-point complement to Wade and LeBron James.

"It means everyone has to pick it up," Jones said. "I think our biggestchallenges will be defensively, because Mike's an underrated defender. We'll have to find a way to piece it together."

The Heat concludes its exhibition schedule Friday in Tampa against theOrlando Magic and opens the regular season Tuesday at TD Garden againstthe Boston Celtics.

"Our health is a priority right now," Spoelstra said.

when in the hell did you become a heat fan? i can swear i remember your SN from a while back

First Half of this Hawks game was exactly what I wanted to see from the Squad. very uptempo style of play from both teams and geared for mid season form. Got down early but with defensive pressure and great Bench play led by Eddie House hitting 3 3pt field goals in the first half, they were able to climb back. Still another half left but I like what I see.

Bron leading the way with 21pts and 8 rebounds.
MIA 51 - 46 ATL

Second to last game of the preseason is probably the best dress rehearsal for the season beginning next week for all teams around the league and with health issues stemming from Wade county and now Mike Miller, a season ahead of trials and tribulations is sure to come! Nevertheless .. Lets Go Heat!!

Naw..honestly, Im more a LeBron fan than anything. I want to see him do well and since he's a member of the Heat...
From Houston so that's my default team. Aside from that, I follow the league closely but just don't have the time to post like most since I'm in law school.

Damn...didnt know we had to run it by certain members to post in threads

trust.... being a heat fan on NT is a rare breed.. there was only a few of us that i could have counted on my fingers... through out the years we have been pretty laid back fans, never really talking !$+@ about other teams ( like laker/cavs fans the last 3-5 years ) stiil kept it respectful while still throwing some jabs here and there... and with new fans coming through we dotn wanna get cocky and give us a fans a bad rep...

^ Yea it was hard being a Cav/Bron on here because of the OC types that would go ham after every regular season win.
No point in getting too cocky and then having to eat crow when things go wrong. Ill rarely be seen here and I definitely

dont have time for the back and forth with opposing teams' fans

Good question. My guess maybe is that Spoelstra is trying to get a better firm outlook on what his second string may look like together. However, I'd be surprised if Chalmers doesnt start at PG. I like Arryo but I'm looking for Chalmers to solidify his identity amidst the big acquisitions.
