Are the Suns going to be playing Argentina 82 times a season?

After team USA’s performance, it’s probably not wise to belittle fiba competition.

I should’ve said it will be nice for Booker to finally play with a legitimate pg.

His NBA record speaks for itself.

Hype was unreal. He’s still one of the best passers in the league though. He transformed that Wolves team that first year, every pass was almost a highlight. Excitement and buzz was there. Drafting Flynn also kinda ****** their rebuild. The injuries to start his career then Love being moved definitely sucked.

It's time to talk about this now that he's got 10 years in.

Ricky Rubio is the textbook definition of a bust. The outcome didn't match the hype.

His career has been disappointing compared to the hype, but I’m hesitant to call him a “bust” since he’s had a long NBA career as a starter.

I save the term “bust” more for guys like Anthony Bennett and Greg Oden who barely end up playing.

He also made all 7 of his FT's apparently and had 0 turnovers. It's their preseason

RJ Hampton's team is going to come over and play some NBA preseason games in October. It would have been nuts if Lamelo's team came over too

Bennet is a bust Oden just got hurt. B-Eazy is a bust. Players who really did nothing in the NBA. Wiggins , Parker are bigger busts.

Rubio is much better than them

Bust doesn't mean simply washing out of the league.

Ricky Rubio maxed out MUCH lower than what he anticipated. That's it. He can start for the next 5 years and unless he somehow reaches his prospected trajectory...he'll still be a bust.

Joe Smith played 16 years in the NBA. He's a bust.

In 5 years...if Andrew Wiggins is still the same player he is now...he will have been a bust (many are already calling him one).

he didn't reach the hype that was created for him prior to signing, wouldn't call him a bust at all. that's too strong a word for a player of his caliber
he's been a very serviceable player throughout his career.
he's had a decent career

Again...we can't start making up our own criteria of what a bust is. It's simply NOT meeting expectation. Ricky Rubio was considered a GENERATIONAL talent. You're saying he's been serviceable. Is that not a bust?

I'll ask again...about Andrew Wiggins.

If Andrew Wiggins next 5 years looks just like this...will he not be considered a bust?

If Lonzo Ball starts for the next 8 years and only marginally improves...will he not be considered a bust?

Why are we looking at Rubio's career with rose tinted glasses?

It's a little fuzzy remembering the exact hype around Rubio, it was pretty high from what I recall, especially after the Olympics. Was it really "generational" though? After all, he was the 5th pick

IDK, man. If a “bust” is any highly touted prospect that doesn’t live up to expectations, then there are more “busts” in the NBA than players who have succeeded. Seems too broad a definition to me.

The Wolves drafted Johnny Flynn in the lottery in the same year as Rubio. He was out of league in 3 years. Seems unfair to call both him and Rubio busts considering the career Rubio has had.

It's not fuzzy for me. Many of us remember it very clearly. Before Luka, Ricky Rubio was THE most hyped European prospect ever. There were circumstances that led to him being the 5th pick. 1) He had a ridiculous buyout and there was uncertainty around when he'd actually come over. and 2) He refused to work out for Memphis (#2 pick).

I don't really understand this criteria. You're practically shielding him from being a bust by comparing him to a player that washed out of the league. A bust is a bust. Some busts are bigger than others and end up out of the league.

This is why prospects often get "ceiling" and "floor" comparisons when coming into the NBA. Ricky Rubio's floor allowed him to be a decent NBA player. That doesn't mean he's NOT a bust.

Rubio was great at 16 or 18 in the olympics against the US. the hype was real. He more than held his own against CP3 and Deron.

Nbadraft.net compared him Pistol Pete. :lol

OK, but using your definition of bust, you can make arguments that really good players are busts just because the expectations for them were so great. Is Blake Griffin a bust because he’s never won MVP or been past the 2nd round of the playoffs, when multiple guys drafted after him in his class have?

I’ve always understood bust to mean a prospect that doesn’t just fail to meet expectations, but doesn’t even come remotely close to meeting expectations.
