I think the best and worse version of Russ this year forced Houston in this direction along with how offensively potent they’ve been with Tuck at the 5 this year.

Russ is such a terror downhill but so bad at shooting that if Hou is gonna do anything in the offs they need this version of Russ, the one who shoots as little as possible. Plus as Hou has started to veer away from PnR and more iso it’s neutered some of capela’a effectiveness.

Houston will need a center to get them through the season but otherwise it isn’t that big of a deal. What center could they have gotten that was going to make a tangible difference?

No assets to trade plus they’re really damn good with Tucker at center, leaning into this and maximizing Russ and harden is probably better than what they would of done as far finding a playable 5 for the offs
